What Would Don Draper Do?
It was the Malibu last year, I think. Saturn Aura won it the year before that.
IMO, Saturn did a bad job of utilizing it and advertising it. Just because it won the award, it doesn't mean people will automatically buy it. The car may have won the award, but it was a bit boring for me.
The Malibu is better than the Aura.
The Genesis, however, marks a new direction for the company and is a viable and affordable RWD V8 sedan choice in a heavily competitive market. HMA and WMG will no doubt utilize this in advertising to the max, and the car itself is very attractive in prices, aesthetics, etc. I think it will do well. I mean, the award can only help, not hurt.

Huge step for Hyundai, but its the reputation that really gets sales, and right now, anyone who isn't an automotive enthusiast thinks of Hyundai as "that company that makes the cheapest cars on the market." The fact that the Genesis doesn't advertise its hyundainess won't help. But otherwise, good accomplishment.

I've seen several Genesis sedans on the street, and they were all debadged/rebadged (had winged logo in front and back)except for one that left the crooked hyundai "H" on the back. Guess no one wants to be seen in a hyundai...

^^ Hyundai knew about it. That's why Hyundai introduced ^ this special emblem just for Genesis. Do you get it? They know what their core problem is, and they are working as hard as they can to fix that problem.
The perception of being a shitty ass car manufacturer for the last decade is the ONLY thing that is holding Hyundai back. However, now that Hyundai is bringing out some REAL competitive vehicles into the market as well as its innovative marketing strategies that are solely tailored to change its bad brand image, IMO, they will be able to improve its current negative brand image and will become one of the strongest car manufacturers in the near future.
On a side note, I wish the UAW in Korea stops fucking with Hyundai in this already-fucked-up economy. The UAW just declared to discontinue its work for Hyundai plants...

It was quite a departure for Oldsmobile....but in the end Oldsmobile was doomed.
I know the V8 based off the Northstar Caddy engine was quite good.

In Korea, the Genesis sedan comes with that badge from the factory, if I recall correctly.
The Equus and the Genesis are the flagship vehicles and wear their own badges.
When I get my Genesis Coupe, I will most likely change the badge, too. Not so much because I don't want to be seen in a Hyundai, but because I think the badges I've seen are pretty cool looking.

As matter of fact, why dont you stop one of those Genesis sedan owners in the middle of the street and ask them, " I know you bought Hyundai, but did you rebadge cause your ashamed of the fact your driving Hyundai, you dont want to show that crooked H ?"

^ I'd do the "KDM" conversion just for that badge! I wish Honda / Acura would do something that people would want to copy ... (Even though the 'Genesis' badge reminds me a lot of Aston Martin ...)

it'll be interesting to see what kind of factory options hyundai will sell, be it wheels, body kit, or other accessories... if the price matches what hyundai claims it'll be, i'd be super tempted to buy it!
