Not fire, just mame. I'm not feeling any of his designs...not even this one. The parts that are stylized are overstylized to the point of bein offensive. The parts that aren't offensive are almost boring. It's like he can't find a happy medium. And what is with that spoiler?

But that's just my humble opinion.

Yeah I still want him fired. The body is ok, the interior still sucks.
The Z9 is ok, the 7 is decent. Everything else he has done sucks dick. Big floppy donkey dick.

This Z9 is almost semi-decent, the body is all right but the interior looks stupid. It seems like all of his cars are just too "busy" with too many little "thingies" and "wigglies" that make the car less than the sum of its parts.

I still think the 7 is the only car that looks okay to me. This was fine until I saw the spoiler. It looks like some sort of mustang 5.0 spoiler from the 90s.

You guys remember "The Homer"? The car Homer designed in an early season of the Simpons...obviously the cars look nothing alike but the same philosophy seems be be showing up in these cars. IMHO

can't say it looks impressive for a 100kplus car. rear looks like a carrera gt that went very wrong, interior looks as cheap as the z4's.

The problem is...the spoiler is the rear deck lid. That's probably why it looks so funky.

BTW: Love the avatar.

Very ugly. That spoiler thingey or whatever you call it is tacky. I don't like his interiors either. Overall, I hate his designs for the most part

yes, I want him gone.

It's a convertable 6 series to me

Good their cars look so different now. You'd think there would be a style difference between a 6series and a "z9"

I dont care what you guys say this is a hot car and I would love to get my hands on one. The spoiler looks fine to me, a little different but it gives the top a flat profile from the side and that looks better than the round sudden slope on the trunk.

I think its gorgeous.

WTF is up with that steering wheel?

Overall I think it looks ok. Better than the Z4 at least. Still not what I expect from BMW though. They really have been turning out some stupid looking cars lately.

I once told myself I would have a brand new V8 6 speed 5 series by the time I was 30, but fuck that if it looks ugly as sin.

I think they did such a kickass job on the design of the E36 & E46 3 series and 1997-current 5 series (sorry don't know the platform name) that it was inevitable that the new designs wouldn't be as classy looking. However, I never expected them to make such a bad left turn.

Maybe I should just buy a 03 540i before they are all gone. Oh wait, they are $45k and I'm only 21. :o

ya I agree...

I guess I don't like his modern vision of BMW.

I'm more into the Classic bmw look.

So far I have seen 1 design I like of his...

Chris Bangle News **Explains how BMW expanded its range by changing design**(page 6)

AutoWeek’s fast five: BMW design chief Chris Bangle talks

By AUTOWEEK

BMW DESIGN CHIEF CHRIS BANGLE splits opinion like no other. Immediately following the Frankfurt motor show premier of his latest work, the all-new 6 Series, the 46-year-old American and 10-year BMW veteran spoke with AutoWeek correspondent Richard Yarrow:

AW: Why do you think there’s criticism of your designs?

BANGLE: I think it’s much to do with the fact that we have these extremely provocative cars and that we were doing this at a time when the whole subject of change as reported in the media was not on the same wavelength as we were.

AW: Do you worry some of your designs haven’t been well received by the public?

BANGLE: We’re not creating fashion icons and it’s not an issue whether or not we have become everybody’s darling. It’s difficult for me to imagine, in the history of cars at a time of change, that we are doing anything different to anybody else. Many vehicles that we look at today with romanticism, when they came out they were very provocative. They invoked this love-hate relationship that’s assigned to us today.

AW: We’ve seen spy shots of the facelifted 7 Series already, which is earlier than normal. How does that make you feel?

BANGLE: We facelift all our cars. It’s part of the model cycle and it was always planned that way.

AW: Tell us about the cabrio version of 6 Series.

BANGLE: It will be at the Detroit show in January, but I’m not really supposed to talk about it yet. It will have a very interesting roof, great coupe-like lines, some unique features—which is important—and it’s basically very sexy.

AW: What is the future for BMW design?

BANGLE: We will continue to evolve our philosophy. We all believe cars are truly important in our lives and are solutions to problems, not problems that need solutions.
