2011 Acura TSX Sport Wagon for fall 2010
Dang, just posted in TSX forum, and realized this is better place for it. All I have to say is about time!
TORRANCE, Calif. - 10/28/2009
Acura announced today the addition of a TSX sport wagon to its 2011 vehicle lineup. Arriving at Acura dealerships in the Fall of 2010, the TSX sport wagon will be based on the popular TSX sports sedan, which features balanced performance, advanced technology and bold styling. Additional information on the 2011 TSX sport wagon will be announced at a later date.

This is one that could go in automotive news, car talk or the TSX section. I say post it and let the mods sort it out.
Where ever you post it, I think it's pretty f'n cool.

YESSSSSSSSSSS.
I guess Acura DOES listen to its customers sometimes. I intend to test drive it when it gets here and to try to convince the wife to trade her Pilot for it. Good business decisions like this deserve a sale from me. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it has a V6 option. Maybe SH-AWD?

^^^^^^
That would make family trips sooooo much more enjoyable....I'd love to be able to have a little spirited driving at times. I love our Pilot, but man is it drudgery to drive cross-country in it.

MMC should be 2012 (usually 4th year in a 5 year cycle)
Edited to add I know 1G had it's MMC in year 3, but it was the 4th year for the platform.

Fantastic, Honda!!!
I hope the TSX wagon cannibalizes the Accord Crosstour sales.
So now Acura will have a new "best looking" car in their line-up....this will now make a total of 2 great looking cars in the Acura line-up...the other being the MDX.

I want one, too.
It would be nice not to have to contort my bike to fit in my 04. I'm going to break something one of these days trying to get it in there.

Why would you think this looks good when you don't think the TSX looks good?

I hope they bring it and leave it alone. I would so be into one if I could get the accord mugen kit for it.

This automatically adds 2 SKUs. Base and Tech. With a V-6 option we have 4 SKUs. With a manual on either the I4 or V6 we have 6 new SKUs. There are already 6, are dealers supposed to stock 12 versions of TSX in 8 colors with 3 interiors?

And can you explain to me why any of that should matter? Not doubting it causes some sort of problem but outside of the added manufacturing costs what's the big deal?
Other cars have far more SKU's than 12. If it makes you feel any better Canada already gets 2 more SKU's than the US. TSX Base, AT/MT.
I think the bigger issue is pricing. If we assume the Wagon will cost more than the sedan, then we have a TSX that's more expensive than a comparably quipped TL. Quite a log jam in the pricing department.

Well every car costs about 30K. If you stock 10 that's $300,000. If you have to stock 40 TSXs, you have over a million dollars in TSX inventory alone and you still don't have anywhere near 'one of everything'
European brands have a build to order system. Their customers expect to wait 3 months for their car. Acura customers (right or wrong) expect to drive home in their car in a day or week. Acura finance doesn't hold the rates for 3 months, so the lease payments need to re-calculated or sometimes negotiated when the car arrives. Obviously Acura Finance could fix this but they haven't.
I could go on but I think you see my POV. Most people would say 'that's just tough shit for the dealer' but I say is impacts what you get and for what price as well as your purchase experience. Isn't that what all customers are looking for? A good price and a pleasant experience?

PROBLEM SOLVED. Everyone is happy....balance is restored to The Force.

No doubt if the TSX wagon received the turbo 4-banger, the enthusiasts would be all over it. I'm expecting to see this car all over high school parking lots.

To put what Colin is saying another way, if the dealer has 30 TSX's 5 base 5 tech auto, 5 base 5 tech 6MT, 5 V6 base and 5 V6 tech, the models are all fairly available and priced accordingly.
If you have to split those 30 cars into 8 or 10 versions, the actual availability of each version drops and large discounts will diminish for smaller ones, along with that finding the perfect car in the perfect color combo becomes increasingly difficult.
You can't just tell the dealers to stock more cars, lot space doesn't just show up because the manufacter added more models. I've worked both ends of the spectrum, Porsche, where the options list is like a city phonebook and it's extremely rare to find to identical cars and Acura which is a rather cookie cutter set up. In my experience you are about 95% more likely to walk into an Acura dealer and find the exact car you are looking for than you are at Porsche.

Is the turbo actually any good? I could have sworn I've read a lot of bad about it and heard that Acura themselves thought it was a mistake. I could be off though.

When I saw the TL and ZDX....
I felt like a padawan learner and Acura was Anakin Skywalker....dealing me the death blow with his lightsabre.....such injustice!!!

at the Jedi mind tricks transpiring here. Speaking of which, where is the guy?
And I'm sure they can fabricate new IC piping to reroute the top-mount intercooler into a front-mount. I mean, what were they thinking putting it on top anyways?

Very wise business move from Acura.! They should definitely be applauded where credit is deserved. Let's hope a turbo 4 with SH-AWD will be available as well.
But still, let's just be thankful for now before wishing for some more...

methinks it'll be an auto only. SH-AWD seems like the logical decision, but seeing as how they didn't even put it on the V6 TSX....
Also doubt it'll come with a 6MT.
