195 used BMWs in one dealership. almost equal to used Acuras on 11 dealerships of Bay area.

There's a market for such a car as the BMW X6. Acura tried to enter that market with the ZDX, thinking they'd get a piece of the sales. Look where the ZDX is now. You give Acura too much credit. Just because there's a market "for such car" doesn't mean Acura will be successful in selling such car.
Another example is the RLX. It's "more spacious, refined, more fuel economic" than its competitors. Look where RLX sales are

yes....a low enough volume to not warrant any further production.

Prove it.
Like you have any say in the matter.

Maybe the RLX will become a collectors car one day since it's so rare.

See. Again, they set the base price too high on the RLX. Slash the features to match with those 5 series/E Class and cut the price closer to $40k then we will see.
Same as the TLX, Acura is kidding themselves if the base price is $40k. But if it starts at $30k, and goes up to $45k, I don't see a problem with that as long as the trims are packaged smartly.

Acura: "No, no, no. We don't want to sell too many RLX's. We're perfectly happy only selling 200-300 per month. We don't want it to be common (i.e. a sales success) like BMW's (and Audi's, and Mercedes', and Lexus') are."

Ben was cruising through Death Valley over the weekend and spotted some BMW i8s being tested. Intrigued, he followed them into a parking lot and found a group of Honda and Acura(?) test mules along with a new 2014 MDX. 1 of them appears to be some sort of Accord V6 variant, but this heavily camo'd 1 could be an early mule for the 2015 Acura TLX.

saw the pics on TOV. you can see the acura grill through the camo in the front end...can't really see much else. seems to have similar lines to the current 4G just a touch smaller. time will tell when the concept is finally shown.
#6373
Definitely an Acura grille. It looks similar to that of the ILX in that there's only 1 bar running across underneath the shield instead of 2 like on the 4G TL and RLX
ILX
RLX
Hard to make out, but it looks like it's running on 225/60R18 Bridgestone Potenza RE97AS tires
That's a weird size.
Car's not going to handle well with 225 tires compared to 245 tires like on the 4G TL. Does Acura not know how important tires are to handling?

Vent placement is much more important than all season tire set up.
Anyway, cross our fingers Acura hits it out of the park with the TL(X).

Well yeah finally. Can't wait to see it.
Looks like there are LED head/tail lights. Tire size it's just for testing unless that's an I4 model.
So will go for sale in January?

225/60/18 is a damn SUV tire
usually 18" tires have an aspect of 35 or 40 for sedans....something is not right with that image....
and Acura will be please STOP putting a fuqqing beak on ALL DAMN CARS !!! didnt you learn with sales going downhill for 2nd gen TSX/4th gen TL/2.5 gen RL....?

Merge
If it needs to be merged, should it be merged into the TL or the TSX thread? That is why I started a new 1 bc it is supposed to replace both cars and I did not want to play favorites despite my screen name

It's mentioned elsewhere that it may be an RLX SW-AWD or something, though I'm not sure why they'd need to try to conceal an RLX up. But if you look at some of the features like rear and side windows, it matches up with the RLX.

This thread should stay the way it is.

The RL and RLX are in the same thread. We have every indication that the TLX will be simply the succesor to the TL - with an X appended to its name. It has nothing to do with the TSX.

My bet is the new TL or TLX or whatever Acura want's to call it will go the design route of the RDX: More vanilla.
Vanilla sells at the right price, just look at the RDX.
Polarizing does not.
Acura has yet to learn how to design a car with the right mix of aggressiveness, presence, and beauty.
There is a fine line on vanilla, price your vanilla too high (see RLX) and people won't pay for it, for you can only charge so much for vanilla.

They're basing this on something they heard in late 2011. Meanwhile MotorTrend has confirmation that the Accord Euro will live on.
Confirmed: Honda Accord Euro to Live On – Will a New Acura TSX Come to the U.S.?
With news that the Honda Accord Euro will live on to see another generation, we’re starting to wonder again whether the rebadged Acura TSX will also be redesigned for the U.S. market. Previously, we’d heard that the TSX and TL lineups will be merged into a new TLX model to fight the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4, and others. Now that Honda CEO Takanobu Ito has confirmed to CarAdvice that Honda is working on a redesigned Honda Accord Euro, could the Acura TSX survive to a third generation after all?
Ito was quoted as saying the company was working “really, really hard” on developing the Honda Accord Euro, but stopped short of revealing potential launch timing. As the U.S.-market Acura TSX and Acura TL near the end of their lives, though, we’ll find out soon enough whether the ILX will continue to be offered alongside a TSX and TL, or whether a TLX model will crowd out the TSX.
A next-gen TSX could help Honda justify the engineering costs of a new Accord Euro. In 2012, the TSX contributed 28,865 sales (including 4234 TSX wagons), below the TL’s 33,572-unit performance. In December 2012, the smaller ILX outsold the TL and TSX, while Acura’s SUVs — the RDX and MDX — comprised far more than half of the brand’s overall December sales.
“Honda understands the unique importance that the TSX has had for the Acura lineup and realizes its strength in its segment,” Honda spokesman Chris Martin previously said during a Motor Press Guild event, to Automotive.com.
The fate of the Acura TSX in the U.S. remains uncertain, but confirmation of a new Honda Accord Euro does make us wonder. Before we see any revised TSX, though, expect a refreshed ILX to appear in dealerships.

I hope this "smaller sibling" is the ILX.

Goodbye.
Nah, I get a feeling that the new Accord Euro will look just like the new US Accord which is already selling outside the US in places like Australia. That way the TSX will die too.
#6393
In Australlia both Accord Euro and Accord is selling. This USDM Accord is too big for most markets and it lacks diesel engine.
They need to create a much lighter and smaller Accord Euro with 1.6 L diesel engines. to compete with BMW 3/A4/C C Class. Problem with current Accord Euro is diesel it that it weighs 3700lbs and 2.2 diesel engine. while the German diesels are at 3100lbs. Its 600lbs gap in weight. Next A4 diesel even lighter.
Euro Civic is hatch back with 169 inch length alot shorter than USDM Civic. with 1.6L diesel sales are increasing.
TLX is likely to be heavier than USDM Accord. there is no way it can succeed outside US with its large body and small diesel engine.

The kerb weight of the Accord saloon diesel with automatic is 1593kg, or 3507lb. Manual is 1540kg, or 3388lb.
http://www.audi.co.uk/content/dam/au...allroad-s4.pdf
The unladen weight of A4 saloon 2.0TDI with multitronic is 1515kg, or 3333lb. Manual is 1480kg, or 3256lb. If you are talking about gross weight, then it will be well over 2000kg (4400lb+).
It seems to be the gap is more like 150-200lb rather than 600lb.

so you really think 6MT 2G TSX diesel weighs identical for 6MT?
The figures on honda site are not correct. how come 1.6L diesel Civic weighs 1487 kg on Honda website?. Only 60kg difference between Accord 2.2 and Civic 1.6 despite having Civic the lightest engine in its class.
http://www.honda.co.uk/cars/newcivic...lspecification
why is 2.2 diesel Civic has combined rating of 67mpg but same engine and transmission in Accord has combined ratings of 52mpg. Its huge difference for having same engine and identical weights.
Remember diesel 1.6L Civics are heavier than 1.8 Petrol Civics. 1.8L Civic petrol is 150 Kg (350lbs) than 1.6L diesel Civic.
