Talks about 40% depreciation in first year. Posts two cars that are 3 years old.

The 2019 G90 3.3T Premium has an MSRP of $69k. $52k is 75% of the original value.

Again:

U r reel gud at maff.

The 2020s are out. It doesn't matter if they car was purchased yesterday and returned today with 2 miles - it's one model year old.

RLX depreciation worse than competition is myth.
Right, b/c you know so much more than the analysts over at iseecars (lol)...

Unlike you, iseecars doesn't cherry-pick from one sales region and instead, takes resale data from numerous markets.

See, I can cherry-pick as well...

Certified 2017 Acura RLX w/Technology - Pleasanton automall - $29871 (dublin / pleasanton / livermore)

Pleasanton automall is currently selling an 2017 Acura RLX w/Technology with only 24,226 miles.

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd...084213552.html

In addition, resale price of the current G80 is depressed as there's an all-new model around the corner.

2017 RLX was Pre-MMC models. essentially same model as 2014.

This BMW is $75K car. there is nothing special about RLX depreciation considering it is using older tech. it is still using timing belt and with no free maintaince.

you will embarass your self if you donot drop this RLX depreciation topic.

anyone who says BMW 540i V6 and 4x4 should not be quoted as a reliable source.

You can post all you want, but it doesn't matter (and who's fault is it that the RLX has older tech, and it's not like the MCE model is selling better, actually selling worse).

iseecars has access to a lot more data and they have crunched the nos.

iSeeCars Top 10 Vehicles With the Highest Depreciation Rank Model Average 5-Year Depreciation
1 Maserati Quattroporte 72.2%
2 BMW 7 Series 71.3%
3 Nissan LEAF 71.0%
4 BMW i3 70.9%
5 BMW 5 Series 69.2%
6 Acura RLX 69.2%
7 Ford Fusion Energi 69.1%
8 BMW 6 Series 69.0%
9 Jaguar XJL 68.9%
10 Chevrolet Volt 68.1%
Average for All Vehicles 49.6%

And within its segment, the RLX is #1 for 3 yr old models.

The K900 in question is the previous gen model (which isn't even available w/ AWD), so even w/ a new gen model on the lots, it still held its value better. lol

And, oh...

your data is flawed. it put RLX and BMW 7/5 series similar depreciation after 5 years. which is incorrect.

BMW deprciations after 5 years are atleast 80% on avg.

Acura RLX is around 60% which is normal for this price car.

The 2017 is a W212. The 2018 was the first year of the W213.

And you're using prices of the current E Class to gauge what the MSRP was for a previous generation? Are you that dense?

Record Truck Deliveries and Strong Car Sales Boost American Honda to February Records and 2020 Gains

  • Record Honda truck sales lifted the brand 4.7% in February, with multiple models seeing double-digit gains
  • Honda Civic sales climbed 11.5% in February, with Fit sales jumping 63.5%
  • Acura RDX set a new February best to push division February truck record; cars led gains, with ILX up 3.4%

"These are challenging times for our industry and the world, so it's gratifying to see our sales grow in February, led by strong demand for Honda light trucks, and Civic sales gains demonstrating once again that cars still matter," said Steven Center, Vice President, Auto Sales Division, American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "We will continue to maintain a disciplined approach to the market, focusing on the strength of our products rather than steep discounts, with the introduction this month of the CR-V Hybrid signaling the continued growth of our electrified vehicle lineup."

BRAND REPORT

Sales Highlights

Hot on the heels of record February sales, Honda trucks gained an important new family member on March 1 with the launch of the 2020 CR-V Hybrid—Honda’s first electrified CUV.
  • Honda trucks gained 6.6% for best February sales: CR-V rose 7.5%, HR-V set a new record with sales up 14.4%, Ridgeline climbed 46.8%, Odyssey led its segment; and Passport posted an all-time best February, combining with stablemate Pilot to match Feb. 2019 sales.
  • With sales rising 11.5% in February, Civic showed impressive sales strength in what has been a tough market for cars.
  • Honda’s hybrid sedans—Accord and Insight—both gained in February, with Accord Hybrid up 10.7% and Insight gaining 1.6% for the month.

Model Notes
Honda leads the industry in retail sales to under-35-year-olds over the past decade, with Civic and Accord the #1 and #2 cars, CR-V the #1 CUV and Odyssey the #1 minivan.
CR-V is a perennial best seller, the overall #1 CUV in America over the past 23 years, and now adds the all-new CR-V Hybrid.

BRAND REPORT

Sales Highlights

The 1-2 punch of MDX and RDX delivered a February record for Acura trucks, with RDX itself setting a new February mark, while Acura cars led gains for the brand.
  • February sales of 4,982 units put RDX back in the record books and Acura’s stalwart MDX delivered 3,858 sales—the two combining for a new Acura February truck sales record.
  • ILX led gains for Acura in February, with a 3.4% gain on sales of 1,083 units—it’s best February since 2016.
  • TLX also gained for the month, up 2.2% on sales of 2,263 vehicles.

Model Notes
Every Acura core model offers an A-Spec appearance package, which attract more than twice the under 35 year old buyers as non A-Spec models.
More than 99% of all Acuras sold in the U.S. are made in America, with five of the brand’s six models built at the company’s three Ohio auto assembly plants.

A few years ago, thought that the next time that H/K would have a chance in overtaking Honda in monthly sales (not saying they would every month going forward) would be when they revamped and expanded their CUV lineup.

This may happen a little sooner than had thought...

H/K - 105,190

Honda - 107,742

W/ Seltos, Venue and (new) Sonata sales ramping up and a new Optima on the way, may not need expanded Telluride production or the new Sorento, Sedona, Tucson or Santa Cruz to make it so.

One area where the Koreans have more than caught up is w/ the flagship 3-row CUV (13,707 for the Telluride/Palisade vs. 9,688 for the Pilot).

you should Genesis to H/K group. and add Acura to Honda. Passport/Pilot very similar vehicles.
Acura products have impact on Honda product planning in north America.

It's the other way around. Acuras reliance on Honda's development is the only reason Acura still exists.

No, b/c (1) comparing mainstream sales and not luxury brand sales, and (2) pointless to compare sales of Genesis and Acura at this juncture until Genesis finishes fleshing out its lineup.

The Passport's competition is more the Sorento and Santa Fe (where the 2 combine to outsell the Passport by an even greater margin).

Combined 2-row and 3-row midsize CUV sales

H/K - 27,734

Honda - 12,797

Acura having an impact on Honda product planning must be why Honda gets the new platforms first. lol

RDX is new platform. NSX is new platform. where you get idea that Honda gets new platforms first?
Honda and Acura is behind in putting 4 cylinder hybrids and Plug In.
for example Honda Pilot/Passport does not have hybrid engine.
Honda CRV just entering hybrid engine.
there is hybrid/electric for Odyssey.
same with RDX/TLX hybrids.
The point I am making Honda/Acura hasnt fully utilized hybrids/electrics yet.

So you're admitting that they're behind the 8 ball on getting what sells to market (hence, the slumping sales). Got it!

Honda/Acura sales are higher than last year. so where is the slumping sales?
the whole Genesis brand cannot beat even a 6 year old Acura TLX sales.
Genesis brand has highest depreciation in used car market.

https://www.genesisnewsusa.com/en-us/releases/178
FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., March 3, 2020 – Genesis Motor America today reported sales of 1,587 units in February 2020, a 4 percent increase compared with the prior year.

The MoM and YtD daily selling rates are both down when you consider that they've had two additional days to sell this year.

There was speculation that Honda may pull out of the Australian market, but after a business review, Honda decided to continue in the Aussie market, but w/ some changes (cutting down on the # of dealerships and/or going to an independent distributor).

https://www.motoring.com.au/honda-co...tralia-123203/

Whatever the end result ends up being, wouldn't be surprised if see something similar for Europe.

The RLX is made in Japan, and the Fit and HRV are made in Mexico, which while not overseas, I think still counts as an import.

Honda, Acura Adjust Marketing In Reaction To COVID-19

American Honda Motor Co. is the latest automaker to adjust marketing and social media efforts to acknowledge the challenges its customers are facing.

Honda is launching creative today in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. It falls under the auspices of “The Power of Dreams,” Honda’s ongoing brand campaign that first launched in 2015.

The 30-second spot, “The Power Of Something Greater” from RPA, focuses on how coming together as a community can help people get through challenging times and emerge even stronger. The campaign includes social media.

The campaign features visual elements tying directly to Honda’s [corporate social responsibility] response to COVID-19 highlighting its concern for customers and the support it is providing to the community in the form of contributions to food banks and meal programs, support for healthcare providers and the volunteer efforts of Honda associates, says Jay Joseph, vice president of the marketing division of automobile sales at American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

“Our goal wasn’t simply to get a commercial on the air quickly, but to speak directly with our customers about our company’s overall response to those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.,” Joseph tells Marketing Daily.

A 15-second version of the spot is being shared on Honda social channels. A Spanish language version of the spot will begin airing in the coming days.

The new spot is running supplementary to current Honda national brand creative featuring the CR-V and CR-V Hybrid.

Acura, American Honda’s luxury division, is encouraging people on social media to practice social distancing whenever possible through its #LessDriveMorePark campaign. In a move unusual for an automaker, the creative prompts consumers not to drive, and to park vehicles except for essential travel.

Honda and Acura dealers began airing local ads last week. Both brands are helping customers who financed their vehicles through Honda Financial Services or Acura Financial Services with payment extensions and deferrals, as well as available late fee waivers.

One dealer spot “
” (both in English and Spanish) reminds customers how Honda and the dealers that remain open are here to help. The spot has a
in markets where dealerships are closed to let customers know that help is still available online.

Starting April 1, Honda and Acura also will offer a "First Responder & Healthcare Professional Appreciation Offer" with a $500 discount for select and eligible first responders and healthcare professionals on new vehicles financed or leased through Honda or Acura Financial Services.

The automaker is donating supplies to healthcare providers, including N-95 masks. Honda also has repurposed 3-D printers at a number of Honda operations in North America to manufacture visors for protective face shields.

Nissan North America also recently launched a COVID-19-related
March 26 and a dedicated web page on the automaker’s response to the pandemic.

Ford Motor Co., Hyundai Motor America, Toyota Motor Sales USA and General Motors Co. also launched COVID-19 creative earlier in March.

Ford was the1st to launch a
on March 16. GM quickly followed on March 18. Toyota’s
launched March 20 as did Hyundai’s
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles launched spots March 24 for both Jeep and Ram.

American Honda Reports March Auto Sales in the Face of Difficult Market Conditions

April 1, 2020Sales

With sales up 0.2% after the first two months of 2020, and both brands off to a strong start in the first 10 days of March, the COVID-19 crisis quickly took its toll on March and 1st quarter sales results.
  • Considering the severe market impact, most Honda and Acura products continued to perform well in March.
  • However, combined with declining demand from cautious consumers, hundreds of Honda and Acura dealers were closed in the 2nd half of March in compliance with mandates imposed on businesses by state and local governments.
  • Honda and Acura dealers that were able to remain open did so, focusing their efforts on taking care of existing customers through vehicle service, maintenance, and repair, while preserving the health and safety of their employees.
COVID-19 Initiatives & Customer Support
  • Honda is initiating a comprehensive new effort to harness the spirit of community in responding to the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • This includes a $1 million pledge to address the immediate needs of communities across the U.S., Canada and Mexico in providing the most vulnerable with access to food.
  • Other initiatives include the donation of Personal Protective Equipment and use of 3D printers in Honda operations to produce protective face shields for healthcare providers and other actions to help people combat the COVID-19 pandemic. For more information, click here.
  • As the COVID-19 pandemic can add financial stress to the lives of our customers, Honda and Acura have offered to help customers who have financed their vehicle through Honda Financial Services or Acura Financial Services with payment extensions and deferrals, as well as available late fee waivers.
  • Honda is also providing an industry-first special offer for first responders and medical professionals, out of respect for their contribution to our communities across the country

Talking #BlackAF

I just started watching the new show #BlackAF & the Acura NSX plays a significant role in the initial plot line. Glad to see Acura doing some product placement again as I do not think that I have seen much since the early Marvel movies (Lexus has since replaced Acura as the vehicles of SHIELD).

Imagine Honda/Acura start offering free gas for 6 years for each new vehicle purchase above $40K like Tesla free super charging.
low interest monthly payment with free gas will bring down cost of ownership. the stock will rocket.

I can't imagine the bloodbath for the April sales reports for OEMs that report monthly (looks like lot of companies are going to quarterly reports now). It's gonna be insane drop off. I wouldn't be surprised if they suddenly decided to go to quarterly reports and not release sales numbers for April.
