In Motor Trends 2014 COTY they said
Ouch...
"Not much adventure here with design elements or functional attributes". "The grille graphics continue with a theme that is remarkably unsuccessful after several attempts". "Design is lackluster and chassis engineering is poor" "simply not a competitive product in the luxury segment"

Acura to recall 7400 RLX for rear suspension problems
Acura has announced a recall for the 2014 RLX due to improperly tightened rear suspension bolts that could come loose and increase the risk of a crash. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has yet to formally issue a recall notice for the RLX, but Acura says that a total of 7,387 RLX sedans are affected, which seems to include markets outside of the US as there have only been 4,456 of the sedans sold through November.
While there isn't an official NHTSA statement, there is one complaint on the government agency's site for a similar incident that caused a driver to almost lose control of the vehicle. Recall notices will be mailed out to customers starting next month, but in the meantime, Acura has issued a press release, which is posted below, and includes contact information that will be useful for affected RLX owners.

Statement by Acura Regarding Rear Suspension Bolt Recall: 2014 Acura RLX
12/15/2013 - TORRANCE, Calif.
-7,387 Acura RLX vehicles are being recalled in the United States.
-Rear suspension bolts will be replaced at no charge
-No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue
Acura will voluntarily recall 7,387 RLX vehicles from the 2014 model-year in the U.S. to replace rear suspension bolts that may not have been tightened properly. During assembly, it is possible that one or more of the eight bolts that attach several rear suspension components were not tightened properly. A bolt that is not properly fastened could loosen over time and fall out, possibly allowing a portion of the rear suspension to move out of proper alignment, increasing the risk of a crash. No customer crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue.
Acura is announcing this recall to encourage owners of all affected RLX vehicles to take them to an authorized Acura dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Acura. Mailed notification to customers will begin in early January 2014, and at that time, owners of these vehicles will be able to determine if their vehicles require inspection by going on-line at www.recalls.acura.com or by calling (800) 382-2238, and selecting option 4.

By way of comparison - F10 M5, 0-60 in 3.7 (http://www.caranddriver.com/bmw/m5)
Producing 377 total system horsepower, we think the RLX hybrid should come within a tick or two of the 10Best- and comparo-winning Audi A6 3.0T, with a quarter-mile time of just below 14 seconds and a 0-to-60-mph time of about five seconds.

Don't forget about the tires. It's always about replacing the OEM tires on the RLX with aftermarket ones, and the resulting RLX will outrun everything on the road.

Until Acura hits the 500HP neighborhood, saying M5 in the same sentence is ridiculousness.

Clearly. When was the last time two cars with the same HP but one is RWD and the other is AWD...where, the latter won in performance numbers?

The S6 is probably very underrated but that said both cars are 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and 1/4 mile in about 12 seconds. The only difference is the trap speed on the M5 is 7mph faster than the Audi. The RS7 is faster than the M5 with similar horsepower. The RS7 hits 60 in 3.4 seconds and the 1/4 in 11.6 @ 123mph.

Horsepower is the KING.
When a car doesn't have that much hp, it can only eat dust; unless the car is super light weight like the NSX.

Just generally speaking, AWD cars are heavier and so, if all things are equal, the RWD platform will be faster...

even FWD RLX get 0-100mph in 14.3 second.

Yep, if all else fails, then start putting the best tires on the RLX and some crappy/skinny tires on the RLX-competitors, in order to hide the RLX's non-competitiveness.
Damn good idea !

they just give estimate without testing. Just put skinny 245 mich primacy tire into M5 and see what happens to its timing and handling. the car will be floating like boat.

So, in an effort to resuscitate your argument, you're going to suggest matching a vehicle (in this case the M5) with equipment that wasn't designed for it. Might as well suggest putting wooden wagon wheels on the M5. Then the RLX would win, right?

I'd take that bet. The RLX runs 14.3 in the 1/4.
The M5 stock does it in roughly 12.2 seconds.
RLX
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 4.0 sec
M5
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 2.4 sec
Put 245s on the M5 and I would still say the it would do it faster than the RLX.
