That's odd, because my dealer hasn't accepted a single deposit yet. Just a list of interested buyers because they don't know the anticipated ordering process yet.
Also, if we are to extrapolate on the allocation of annualized global production, your 10th guy in line will probably be waiting a looooooooooong time.

All a dealership cares about is who has money. Nothing else. They sold all their available stock? Good. On to the next year, get more stock, sell it all again. Nothing else matters.

Acura hasn't released the final MSRP for the new NSX. Therefore, even though a potential buyer has put a deposit down on the car, he is not guaranteed a final price and a final delivery date.
So if a multi-billionaire is crazy enough to want to own the first car before everyone else, he can pay the dealership an extra $100K on top of the factory MSRP.
Like you said, "All a dealership cares about is who has money. Nothing else."
If the extra premium doesn't bump him up to become the very 1st on the waiting list, I don't know what does.

^^^ Given this is America, the #1 guy on the list will sue if he doesn't get the first car, regardless of how much anyone lower on the list pays the dealership.

Unless the "#1" guy on the list has a legal paper signed by the dealership stating he will get the serial number "xxxxxxxx000001" car, otherwise he can sue all he wants, while the other guy with the deepest pocket is enjoying the newest NSX on the street.

not sure what your beef is with me. I just merely stated a fact about deposits and how our dealership were taking them. Clients who are interested in this car honestly dont care whether the car is 150k or 200k or even 250k. I understand how you feel about this car but thats not how everyone views it. I apologize if I offended you in anyway.

what I'm trying to say is; back up your statements! How do I know you're not full of shit?

And as we've already discussed before, far arguments sake, if Acura stays true to their word of low volume production restriction of 600 units annually and lets say hypothetically 1/3 are allocated for overseas markets, that leaves roughly 400 units annually for 270 dealers stateside or 1.5 per dealer/per year.
So good luck to anyone who hopes to pay anywhere close to MSRP in the first few years. They will be marked up quite handsomely unless Acura corporate comes down hard with an official "do not rip faces or we'll withhold allocation announcement."

you can doubt all you want. No one said they are taking deposit with no cap.
They had taken 3 and stopped about 1 year ago.
I have the #1's name, occupation and phone number. That is how much detail i have on this matter. Oh and the deposit amount was $10k. #1 spot was dealt directly with the GM, not through any sales ppl.
Or if you are still curious, why dont you call Sierra Acura in Alhambra and ask them yourself they have taken deposit (yes) and if they are still taking more deposit? (No)
oh yah btw: The first 3 NSX from Sierra Acura will be sold at MSRP but i suspect the cars will be loaded up the ass, definitely not the $150k base ones. It has already been notified with all the sales ppl internally.
Yes there will be very little allocations in the US. But not every dealer will be eligible to sell or want to invest to sell since dealers will be losing $ from selling the NSX in the first few years. Of course if the NSX can draw enough customers to buy their other shit, then it is worth the investment.

Why did they stop at 3? Nexx is going to get 100 deposits.

They stopped at 3 because of the...well delays and uncertainties since they were taken a few years ago. and the dealer was just as clueless as us. Once it was confirmed that the car was going to be release, there were customers who also found out the confirmation (like us) and willing to pay the "full refundable deposit" and they were all told the risks about the potential delays or cancellation all together.

MSRP or markup is up to the dealer unless Acura implements some kind of policy. I only know the situation at Sierra Acura. I have not said anything about any other Acura dealers but i am sure most of them will add a good markup to the MSRP. That is why i said The dealer will lose $$ from selling these 3 NSX because they have to put some $$ into the initial setup just to be able to sell the NSX. But they are hoping it will drive more customer to their show rooms for other cars. I think they are also getting 1 demo NSX for display only. Whether if that can be sold later on or not. i am not sure.
The MSRP price was told the customers (3) when they left the deposit. Since this is a full refundable deposit, it works both ways, the dealer can back out and the customer can back out without any penalty. Can Sierra Acura change the mind and screw the customers who waited for all these years? Sure. But I doubt they will.
this is no different than when i left my deposit to order my 435GC. The price i paid for it is about 5000 less than what New Century BMW would usually sell the same car for. They are more expensive than everyone because they can. There was no agreement signed or anything. Just a Credit application and my credit card receipt. When the car arrives, the dealer could simply sell my car to someone else at full retail price and tell me to fuck off and give me my deposit back. But they didn't and they know that is not the way to do business.
The S class i ordered for the big boss which is scheduled to arrive at the dealer in about 30 days. The dealer did not even ask me for fill out a Credit application and the big boss was not even there when the car is ordered and the fleet manager told me i trust you so no deposit is needed.
Of course the NSX will be lot more desirable than a S class or the 435. But the concept is the same. The dealer or the customer can back out at anytime, while there are horror stories out there but most of the time, it is pretty reliable.
There is no policy or mechanism when it comes to order cars unless you pay the car in full up front. It is more like "i will take your word for it"

Why is there such a large circular set back from the NSX? I thought there's no real way to damage vapor...
Yumcha, any thoughts?

Duh...easy. That NSX is a projection image; a hologram. If they let people step into that circle, they'd all figure out that there is no car there.

^ I see Tupac sitting in the driver seat...
Are you saying that is part of the Hologram too?

Well, then, that was a pretty convincing hologram with some sort of solidity that I sat in last Sunday. There were two of them and I sat in both of them.
Wait, maybe they were kit cars on top of two old NSX chassis! I knew there was something screwy.......
