Who wants TSX amp wire harnesses?

Just talked to a guy at Metra in Florida, who is trying to figure out if there is a market of people who would buy TSX interface wire harnesses allowing an aftermarket amp to be added to the factory head unit.

If you want such a product, shout out - he'll be cruising through here...

I'm curious about where Metra gets that stuff made, specifically the plastic and metal...

while they are at it have them come up with a kit so that we can put an aftermarket receiver where the stock head unit is.

Hey, the plug is finding a plug that fits (no tooling) and sticking wiring pins in it.

The kit is a little more tooling... and a lot less ROI, I bet...

would there be any benefits for me to get one of these kits if my amps are already hooked up to my headunit?

I’m planning to have my amps and speakers installed professionally. I doubt they would lower the labor quote for me providing the harness, but one advantage I guess is that if I want to go back to factory later (like if I sell the car) it would make that easier. If the harness is inexpensive I’d for sure jump on it anyway. But if it’s not cheap, I’ll probably just let the installers hack away at the wires (since I won’t have to worry about it anyway).

You have a custom harness that plugs into the TSX amp harness in place of the TSX OE amp, and gives you RCA and remote turn on outputs and speaker wire inputs?

How about one that will plug into the factory AMP to allow you to switch the headunits.

I would buy a HU->aftermarket AMP harness though.

The co. I was working with just moved and is all discombobulated. I would get more attention if I was waving a big PO, but I'm not... I will go meet with them early next week.

Nope, mine is all spliced. I had the OE amp removed b/c it is a tiny piece of shit and all of my RCA connections are between my Eclipse headunit and my amps.
My question was, couldn't you just get a shop to do it? I had them do it for my camaro, and thats the one i have next to me.

If you tell me a site to host pictures, I can show u what i'm talking about, even tho i tore it apart (half the wires are missing).

No, your statement was that you had the harness. I guess you didn't know what I meant?

Just talked to a guy at Metra in Florida, who is trying to figure out if there is a market of people who would buy TSX interface wire harnesses allowing an aftermarket amp to be added to the factory head unit.

FYI, when a shop can, they would rather use the adapter harness themselves. Many do so as standard practice, especially when wires are short and hard to work with. But no one makes the damn thing!

I think you missed the point here... many folks here do their own work, and apparently would like an adapter to make that easier.

Let you guys know next week.

Yep!!

I could do it all myself, but why...when a harness is so much more easy and reliable.
I spliced some wires in my last car...my civic..and after about 6 years..I started losing sound in the front right.

There is nothing worse than going back to debug a problem with some spliced wires...that you did like 5 years ago. By then....I've easily partied all the wire color codes far out of my memory!

Very interested let us know. Like most others splicing works and anyone who knows a bit about stereo's can do it, but plugging right in and having RCA's is what you want, easy and guaranteed to work.
