TSX Audio Installation Kit

Hi Guys;

Quick question... I am looking to install a DVD player in the CD storage compartment. It is an alpine din sized unit and I was wondering if I were to purchase the factory audio bezel kit (which i believe is meant for the oem mp3 or dvd drive) if it would fit properly. Basically I am wondering if that bezel is din sized?

I believe it's a bit wider than a DIN. I could bust out the measuring tape and steal the gf's keys if you're horrifically desperate for an answer.

I know pretty much nothing abou this and just get confused when i read about it but I am basically looking to do the same thing and I ordered one of those kits. Read on a forum somewhere that it is a tiny bit wider but fits much better than without it. Here are a couple links I found that might help.

You just wanted the width of the opening, right? I could just measure it from the outside.

You might also want to ask about the depth of the unit and mounting holes of the brackets. The OEM stereo accessory is an inch or two shallower than aftermarket radios are, and I have no idea if the holes from the OEM mounting kit will fit an aftermarket stereo without modification.

The brackets will fit a DIN unit, but the bezel opening is wider than a DIN space. There is a 10mm gap to the left and right sides and ~2mm gap above and below.

so as far as you guys are concerned this is the best method of putting in an after market din sized unit? or are there other non oem solutions out there someone could point me towards?

I fit a DIN dvd unit in my compartment. You have to cut one side. Let me take pics tomorrow of the work. Door still functions and latches properly. Concealment is great and worth the surgery.

I actually used this kit and made a cover out of plexi-glass and painted it black. The mount works great, but I got tired of the space on the outside so I made the cover. I'll try and get a pic up soon.

Pics of cover I made:

I don't know if there would be any problems with pop out nav, but I've seen other people use it on the TSX without any issue.

Did any one end up posting a guide on how to cut the compartment so wider headunits could fit but have the door still work?
