Need help with oem mp3 mounting kit

I recently purchased and installed the oem mp3 mounting kit from acura that replaces the middle pocket near the shifter. I was expecting a perfect fit with no problems but ran into some issues I hope you guys can help me out with.

Here is a picture I found on here with the kit installed correctly:

My problem is first, that I can't get that bottom door to open smoothly like above. It stops before it is fully opened as if blocked by something. Then if I push it back further, it pops up the mp3 mounting kit face so that its out of place.

The next problem is about the mounting brackets. The headunit I installed is a dvd headunit with a screen. But the placement of the headunit doesn't allow for the screen to come out all the way. When the screen is out, it hits the bottom of the climate control area. Therefore I have to tilt the screen at an awkward angle in order to watch anything.

Can you guys offer any help or suggestions? Did I install the kit incorrectly? Any help is appreciated, Thanks.

Yes, I had that problem too. It may or may not be related to how much you tighten the brackets, they are sturdy, but they do have some give if stressed enough. I used a few washers to shim and it now fits fine and has not been a problem for over a year.

To try and minimize confusion, the brackets that mount inside the cavity have posts on them, the brackets that mount to the dvd unit only have holes.

Put the washers on the posts, one or two as needed on both the top and the bottom posts, as needed, then install the dvd unit. It should stick out a few millimeters more so than now and the door will clear the faceplate.
