Suggestions on an aftermarket dvd/navi.

Okay you technophiles,

I would like to get an aftermarket dvd/gps-navi for the TSeXer. What do you guys reccommend? Price = under $1500 with all the bells and whistles or teh best $1500 can buy. I won't buy it really soon, but maybe in a year or so. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I was looking at the Panasonic AVIC-1, but I think I read somewhere that that dvd/navi isn't that great.

Thanks!!!!

no suggestions, except that you may want to wait on this question. if you aren't going to buy for a year, there is no point in finding what is in the market now, since technology changes so fast that $1500 will probalby buy something different in a year.

yeah, wish i could help more, but i know absolutely nothing in this area... good luck with your research. From what i understand, you should be able to do pretty well for $1500.

I have the pioneer N1 and it's a good deck...! It does just about everything and you will be able to get the deck for around $1300-1400.

The Navi is good in it, but I don't use it very much. I use the DVD/mp3/TV mostly. I pretty much knew I wasn't going to use it a ton. That's why I didn't factory Navi. I'm a commuter so the deck is for entertainment purposes!
You should look into how much you want the Navi, because for cheaper prices you can get some good decks that do mp3/dvd/tv with a flip out screen.

The technology will change in about a year like knthornt said, so the longer you wait the cheaper Navi should become. There are introducing XM navi that now can determine routes based on real time traffic....like the RL
Just stay with the major brands and you should be fine. A popular off brand is Plye. I would try to avoid Pyle and cheap off brands because they may break after a year or two.

I would go with these guys:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...734922171&rd=1

THey will offer the warranty through them. I bought mine from a different seller, but I saw this one after and wished I went through them instead.

The Tv tuner is definitely worth having, but the price is kinda high...I paid around $240. YOu can find lots of sellers with it. For me it works great. But there are a couple of things that contribute to that. I'm on a freeway mostly when I use it and also I'm not super far from where the TV stations broadcast. So your experience with the tuner will vary depending on some of those things.
