car capacitor draining car battery? 2004 tsx

I have a 1 farad cap and two amps being run from it. When I go travel on work and leave my idle for like 5 days, my battery dies where I need a jump.

Is it the case that with a stock battery, my cap is draining the car battery if I leave it by itself?

it can do this no matter what. the cap will keep toping itself off. that means it will keep filling and discharging. = dead battery

Unless the cap is defective the leakage current is miniscule and will not drain your battery. You could have a defective battery or too high of a parasitic drain on the system. You should have the battery load tested as well as the current drain from the battery the ignition off.

The next time you go away on a trip pull the inline fuse to your amp and see if the battery still drains. If it doesn’t then check to see if your amp is shutting off. If it goes dead with the fuse out then have the car and battery checked.

You can charge your IPOD forever off the car battery; it will self drain before the IPOD will kill it. Move your amp turn on lead to a switched circuit.
