I am looking for a double din to replace my stock radio on my 02 TL. I want the cheapest one available that can control an iPod through the screen and have rear camera input. I would like to go 7" but I will settle for 6.5" if I have to..

I was thinking about getting an alpine w200, but I want to see if there is something better I can get for cheaper or around the same price. I don't want to exceed 400$. I'm also planning on doing an OEM nav conversion to go with this.

any suggestions? thanks.

 

Probably looking at used to find a W200 that cheap. There are not many brands you can buy new for close to that. Maybe Valor, Dual, or Jensen. All of them will control an iPod. If you could find a used W200 or Clarion MAX675 maybe around that point. I have sold 2 W200's over the last year. One for over $500 and the last one for $450. Good luck.

But I'm guessing that's why the OP is looking at a W200 vs the W205. Now u do know that install's gonna b heafty right? so unless ur doing the work yourself u may want to up ur budget a little.

As far as better decks for the money the 200/205 has only 2v outputs and although it's my DD of choice, without the H701 or another line amp, it wont b the best sounding deck out of the box (vanilla). But I'll say again it's still my DD of choice because of it's upgradeability (ie. best nav upgrade, best sound prossesor upgrade, best ipod adaptor, best BT adaptor)

 

im also looking at the w200. andi really dont mean to thread jack. but how would you add a nav to that unit? is it as simple as adding a gps antenna? or do you need a car pc?

 

yeah my cousin and I will be installing this..well more like he will and i'll just be helping around with little things lol..but yeah basically what I want to do is have my 2 headrest monitors and headunit to be playing the same thing.. there's also going to be a ps2 hooked up. would i need more than 2 video outputs to be playing the same thing on the 3 screens? and when you say it's not going to be the best sounding deck, is it going to be worse than stock? as long as it sounds atleast on par with stock then it's fine..

 

Should sound as good or better than stock. I am running stock Bose speakers now and it sounds better than stock. I am also running dual headrest screens with my Kenwood. My screens have a central brain box and all I do is hook the a/v out from my Kenwood to the a/v input on the brain box and it plays on all 3 screens. My brain box would actually allow me to play a DVD on the front screen and iPod video on the rear screens.
