It's that simple? Thanks I didn’t know it was that easy. In your opinion which unit would you go for, the Eclipse AVN5435 or the Pioneer Avic-D1, and why? Thanks for your time.

Well, the only thing I don't like about the D1 that the Eclipse unit has is that only has a 2volt preout where the Eclipse is 5V - other than that, I personally like the D1, hands down, and this is coming from a person who couldn't wait to get the Eclipse units in.

One big thing I don't like about the 5435 is the subwoofer control - you cannot turn the sub output OFF from the unit, and it only has 4 levels of volume control for it.

Umm I’m not too familiar with what the voltage on the preouts really does. Could u enlighten me on that? And also doesn’t the 5435 have dual slots so u can play a DVD and navi, where as the D1 only play's navi and cd's? Also would I be able to keep the steering wheel control on both units for volume and track selection? And as far as the navi side of it, is one better than the other?

if you ever wanted to run amps off the deck the signal pretty much sucks. most low end units have 2 but 4 should be the lowest and 5 is prob the best i have seen. if your not looking to add a sub or amped speakers i wouldn't worry about the 2v. or you can go the kenwood double din deck, but you have to buy the nav unit.

Yes, the Eclipse has both a dvd and cd slot. One to keep the Nav disc in and the other for CDs. The Pioneer only has one slot.

Maybe 5v is the best on a Nav unit. But my eclipse as an 8v pre-out with capabilities of 16v. However, only a few amps can fully take advantage of that high voltage.

I am def going to be adding a sub and amplified speakers so it looks like I’ll be going with the eclipse unit. Thanks everyone for your input.

on the d1 theres also 2 slots. though it says it can only play dvd-rom, if you do a bypass it can play dvds also.

to bypass, on the harness pop out one of the leftover wires including the pin, look for the empty slot on the opposite side of the ground wire, pop it into that empty slot and connect to a ground and your done.

then do the video lockout bypass as stated in other threads
