baby stock upgrade

got a '99 cl 3.0, with the stock cd player and bose speakers. i dont wanna spend a lotta cash, but i want just a little better sound in my car. i just think the factory cd player is doing a great job, and im thinking a newer cd player might make the stock speakers sound a bit better.

will a new cd player give better sound? i know the stock bose speakers arent too great, but i also dont think the stock cd player is using them to full potential.

thanx in advance

I'm not 100% sure on a 99, but I know that the 2nd gen Bose system runs everything at 2 ohms. That means you can't hook up an aftermarket deck without replacing the speakers. Or you can use an adaptor, but I have heard a lot of complaints from people using adaptors...interference, grinding noises, distortion etc.

If you think the speakers sound alright, the biggest change for the least money is to add a subwoofer. Not only would this provide much better bass, but by allowing you to lower the bass level on the stock speakers you can make your mids and highs sound better too.

For the least amount of $$ you could check out an amplified bazooka bass tube. They are small and not really that expensive.

Regarding the stock bose system my advice would be to either leave it how it is, or remove all of it. Bose makes it pretty difficult to mix and match their stock stuff with aftermarket parts. It is possible, but probably not in your best interest.

hope that helps.

basically all you need is the actual speaker, an amp to power it, and a wiring kit to connect it all. How much do you want to spend? I could give you some recommendations.

Or you could browse around on www.crutchfield.com. If you look in the amplifier and subwoofer section they have a ton of info and 'how to' section. If you are looking at any item they also have a 'what else do I need?' button, and that will show you anything else you would want/need for the installation. They have very helpful stuff for audio newbies...

for a low amount of money, the bazooka tube sounds like the best fit. they make self amped ones that are simple to install. good luck

basically, i wanna spend as little as possible...

im guessing i could drop around $200-250, but preferably just 200...of course, the lower the better.

im just really strapped for cash right now, so if you can think of any really cheap bazooka tubes, that'd be great. would the 6'' tube be sufficient, or should i go for at least an 8''?
