My brother (who i would say is the F*#@ing man) and i just completed the moving lockout bypass on my AVIC N1. We began by finding the green wire that runs from the head unit to the parking brake. He then cut it before the splice and placed it between the parking brake and the mechanism itself ( the mechanism is a plastic and metal piece that creates a circuit when the parking brake is activated). You will notice a hole in the parking brake lever that lets you access the screw to loosen the mechanism. Take the wire you cut that runs from the AVIC N1, strip the end, and place it between the mechanism and the parking brake itself. Use the screw to tighten the wire between the two and this will complete the circuit and make the head unit think that the parking brake is always on. Therefore you will have control of all the locked out functions while moving such as address search and dvd playback. This took a total of five minutes and is easier than you think. I was running version 1.2 pioneer navi disc and had no problems with all functions. We did a test run and got up to about 55mph and had no problems. I now love my AVIC N1 a million times more. No i will not be using this to distract myself form the task of driving, just to make the unit alot more usable in the real world. I will post pics tomorrow as it is now too dark to do so. hmmm thats a long process for something that can be done yb just grounding the parking brake wire. now ask him to crack the N2 - THAT WOULD BE AN ACCOMPLISHMENT WORTHY OF PRAISE

 

I did it without soldering or grounding anything and as i said it only took five minutes just alot of words to describe and at this point with all the bullshit you need to do to bypass an N2 i wouldn't even bother

 

i grounded it and it took me about 2 min

yea thats how i did it in my dads car. before the stupid N2 is was simple to do the bypass, just tap the parking wire to the ground of the headunit.

 

The N1 has no gyro blockouts - all you do is tie the green wire with the black ground wire, DONE

 

all you gotta do to bypass the N2 is look on the bottom side of the unit you will see a little brown piece of tape or covering once you remove that you will see two soder points all you gotta do is put a wire between these two points BE VERY CAREFUL!!!! and thank your Pioneer rep!!! this was very useful info we;ve tried it on two units so far with no problem. if this works for you all i ask is that you PM me and let me know thanks

so you wasted a bunch of time doing something that wasnt necessary because you didnt know you could ground out the wire.
