Competition Soundworks is good. I heard some good stuff about them. My brother has a friend that owns a shop near Huntington Beach. I'm going to get my car worked on from him in April when he has openings. Forgot his shops name but he's been doing the system installs on OverHauling lately.

yeah - they're over-priced and half of them don't really know what they're doing (minus eric h.) i listened to an 20K install they did and it sounded like complete hell.

Will it be difficult to be able to run both do a direct FM modulator for both my ipod and sirius?

I just want a place that will do a clean install as I want to hide both.

You don't want a FM mod scott. Best bet is probably tap into your CD changer port, and run aux from them so you could switch between the three.

The main reason I'm looking for a good ship is an install, i'm looking to get a custom pocket made, so yea, let me know where I should go now.

As far as an FM mod, it's my understanding I don't have a choice, How would I go about tapping into the CD changer port? There is a mod guys do, the crack open the radio and wire things somehow. Then you can run an ipod or satellite but you have to make the CD player think it's playing a CD by putting in a blank disk.

http://www.thelug.com/radio/gtoradio.html

this is an idea of what i have to deal with; thread from a board:

"Ok, for those that have been w/ this thread since the beginning, when we first started hacking the radio there were two options, hack into the CD input (easy and most have done it) or hack into the unused input on the audio chip (harder because you had to send serial data to the chip).

Well, I've got the 3rd input working.

If you look at the traces on the circuit board, you can see the unused inputs (IN1 on the TDA7348 chip) are routed somewhere but no components are attached. I added 1/8" stereo plug with a 1uF on the R and L inputs that I'll plug my MP3 player into, much like you do when adding it to the CD input.

Then with a PIC monitoring the I2C data bus, I could send the commands to change the radio from FM (In 3) to CD (In 2) to the MP3 player (In 1). It works great!!

Only thing is the display doesn't change when I swith to the MP3 player (which makes sense because I never send the LCD any commands...I'm looking into that), and the volume is low until I touch the volume knob. Sound quality is great though. The volume problem I can work out becuase when you select inputs, you also have to send all these commands for muting, volume, bass, treble, etc.

I've also been able to read the steering wheel buttons with the PIC and send out serial messages to my Ipod to change the tracks, adj the volume, etc. So the end result will be a fully integrated Ipod solution - switch to the Ipod by pushing a button and changing tracks using the steering wheel controls.

I'll post pics when the system is farther down the line as far as development. Everything is hacked up and wires are everywhere right now."

I'm really not a huge stereo guy, I could replace the headunit but they all seem to look very out of place and I don't really want to replace it
