No price increase on the TLX, interesting. From this RDX thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/third-g...crease-997561/
“The cost of buying a new Acura has just gone up. Almost all of the brand’s luxury cars are $ 800 higher, according to breaking news sent to dealers on Tuesday. This increase will affect the three models in the brand’s 2022 lineup, ILX, RDX, and MDX. Let’s take a quick look at the changes that appear in January. Acura ILX -Suggested retail price increased by $ 800 from $ 27,545 Up to $ 28,345 Includes destination charges of $ 1,045.
Acura RDX – now From $ 41,145, $ 40,345 to $ 800 price increase.
Acura MDX -Basic suggested retail price Now $ 49,045, $ 800 more than the previous price of $ 48,245.”

My brother mentioned this, and looks like he is right.

Most automakers jacked up destination charges big time in the past 4 years
If it weren't for BMW cutting its charges, the average increase would be much higher than inflation.https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/n...arge-increase/

What I find interesting is that many BMW and Audis are built over-seas, while Acuras and others are built here in the states (but the Destination charge is the same or higher).

Good that BMW is holding Destination charges down around $1000 (which seems to be the normal for a while now). I consider that fair.

I actually went from an ILX to a TLX type S. I loved the driving feel of the BMWs(3 series) but man everything started falling apart after their warranty expired and was so costly.
I crossed shopped the M340i but then I got flashbacks from my previous experience with the brand, especially when I can get 6yr/70k warranty from the Acura.
The Tesla is actually the wife’s as I’m not ready for full EV yet.

I'm going from a CSX (Canada's ILX predecessor) to a TLX Type S. Was there any challenges with the upgrade to a much larger car? I'm kinda worried about the TLX's turning radius and also it's width with parking spaces, it's much closer to an MDX than an ILX.

2. Agreed. When we got the wife's MDX, I had to make considerable provisions for it in the garage. It's also when I installed the "parking lasers" on the ceiling.

1. Yes, so were we. Really caught the wife off-guard since our previous Honda/Acura vehicles had such good turning radius.

It allows you to park within about an inch are desired location. Less dings from doors (we like to garage both vehicles) and also, no worries about garage door scratching the vehicle when closing (since it has to be so close).
I just-caught the neighbors wife closing their garage door down on the back of their Mercedes SUV the other day. Painful to watch but I was too far away to stop it. Scratched to hell out of it and it required body-shop work to fix.

This is the unit I installed about 7 years ago.

Yeah, In our case we need garage assist for length or it could get squashed like your neighbors' SUV. Have a refrigerator (white) & stand up freezer (white) along the front wall that makes it tight front to back for an SUV. You don't want the SUV crushed but you need to get the fridge & freezer doors open without backing something out of the garage. Only thing I don't like about the house is the 2-1/2 car wide sized garage.

The BMW fee seems to be flat for all US sales, regardless of vehicle or origin. It's the same $995 for a small SUV made in South Carolina as it is for my 2022 M550i which should come off the line in Dingolfing Germany next Friday. From there it gets a train ride to a port, a boat ride to Baltimore and a truck ride to Virginia.

Most people around here are forced to park their trucks and Suburbans outside.
After you install it:
- You park the vehicle in it's absolute perfect place. Both of ours are only about 1-2 inches from (any part or hinge) of closed Garage-Door (we also need forward space).
- Adjust laser to a small spot on dash (an easy one for all drivers to find/see . A small sticker or piece of tape also works (at least in the beginning).
- Try it out. Remember, the Windshield cause a slight distortion, but it's the same every time so no real issue. You will get used to how it looks riding-up hood vs once it starts shining on dash.
Extra Insurance:
- When done, back-out vehicle and draw a small circle around he laser spot on the garage floor with a red marker or Sharpie. That way you will know if laser ever got out of alignment. I've never had that happen, but I'm not taking any chances with either vehicle.
I installed this back when neither current Honda/Acura vehicle had parking sensors or surround cameras . Both current Audis have both, but we both still use the lasers.

Its true. The garage units are basic Home Depot stuff, fridge for Soda, Beer & any juices etc that need to be kept cool. Stand up freezer for ice-cream, frozen foods etc. The house kitchen appliances are all stainless steel because the wife said how about stainless steel when I had it redone.

Did I mention that I have an old WHITE Freezer in the garage also? What a coincidence !!! And it sorta matches my car (It's true). Actually, you can just barely see it (in the bottom right corner) of my Avatar pic.
OK, we gotta stop. Anyway, that was a different thread.

2. Yeah, those a gnarly. Speaking of those ... the set directly behind the SUV ... I went ahead and nylon-wire-tie-strapped some pieces of pipe-insulation to that little section. That way, if anyone ever accidentally pushes the button to open the back-hatch (while the garage door is closed) it will just bump against that and then close again. Never really tried it, but it should work. Otherwise, you are definitely looking at some major scratches (or it might even jam-up)

Sorry, I just measured and it's more like 6 inches ... from the bumper to any part of garage door. Not sure what I was thinking. It's close, but not THAT close.

Looks like you are getting closer to the boat ride. Will admit I tracked the boat everyday to see where it was & where any storms were. Was surprised how fast the boat was. Its fairy new, 2017, & one of biggest car carriers but was knocking down 18.5 kts (20mph). Think Dingolfing to the dock was same day or overnight as I made a boat I did not expect to.

Good question. The Aventurine II Red paint went on the body shell today and now it's off to the assembly line. The dash wood and engraving will be done in Garching, but I expect the leather work was all sent to the assembly line ready for installation.
I'm going to post any further developments in the Aventurine Red Metallic Build thread on BimmerPost: https://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1794475
No point in annoying the Acura people here.

Thanks for letting us talk about things like parking-lasers and not making a big deal about it. Hopefully, some Acura owners also found it interesting or even helpful.

For anyone that has been wanting a new Type S, just get one as soon as you can. I have been enjoying every moment since I got mine back in October. It really is a fun car to drive and even more now that I made a custom intake for it. Hopefully they can figure out how to get some of these out of the factory soon and start selling some more of these cars and the mdx as well.

I agree man I love mine. I want an intake so bad. I keep checking acura dealers stock for sh**s and giggles and nobody has a single one in stock. Im happy I got my 22 when I did in December. they had 4 in stock 2 on the showroom floor. I cant wait for more mods. I'll be getting my custom carbon steering wheel soon it'll match the interior carbon trim.

Indeed, my store pretty much told me to not expect my anticipated Type S to come in anytime soon.

There are already dyno videos too.

Second thing is you need to see the dyno to determine what is being run to get the 80WHP. The charts will usually show a a baseline power at the wheels AWD or RWD then what different settings, fuels & parts you need to get. If you buy the base depending on how much they change for the S normally two maps are ready to go Map 1 91/93 octane & Map 5 91/93 octane with light E85 mix. Map 5 or whatever number they assign to the S is self calibrating to cover some light fuel mixing. Map 2 usually needs downpipes.
Turbos love E85 mixes. Know as the poor mans racing gas. Would really need to see a dyno run by BMS not some YouTuber for their run notations.
All of the above is just some things to think about. JB4 is an excellent product with great features that does way more than just add some wheel horsepower. Would add to the Z4 but am already out of traction stock. Will also pass on the M4C as a JB4 @ 600+whp is way past my ability as a driver.
Personally have run JB4 systems from 2011 to 2021
