2021+ Acura TLX & TLX TYPE S Sales Numbers
#801
Now, whether they're still supply constrained (i.e. demand saturated) at ~1000 units/month is the question you should be asking.

Of course the numbers not being negative this time is good news but I wouldn't get too excited just yet and let's see how it progresses over this year.

But honestly inventory is going up for TLXs and RDXs and they’re not lasting long on the lot either especially A-Spec and Tech trims

I have said this multiple times and will say it again. Acura got the best lineup of vehicles at the moment. The demand for all their vehicles are good. The issue is with SUPPLY. Honda and Acura did not manage it well. In December, Honda/Acura announced that they will have more inventory now.
Acura's sales numbers are excellent considering the supply issue:
1. MDX: the most profitable product for Acura, therefore the numbers show the success. Also, Acura sold more MDX TYPE S than projected.
2. Integra: Nothing to explain. Straight profit as it's purely based on Civic and Acura is charging on average $7-$10 more per vehicle. Just like ILX was an amazing product for Acura till last year (financially)
3. RDX: the demand for RDX has always been great and people love it. Acura used to sell 55K-60K units/year. I believe the margin isn't great so Acura is pushing more MDX.
4. TLX: ~1K unit isn't great but with the current sedan market, supply issues and most likely smaller margin, Acura isn't prioritizing the TLX.
Unless, the economy changes drastically and interest rates keep climbing, the car market will get a hit just like 2008-2009. If not, Acura will bounce back with great sales numbers!

Very impressive sales numbers considering Acura was doing very bad last year!
March 1, 2023
- American Honda February sales near 85,000 units with strong start for Acura brand in 2023
- MDX and Integra lead Acura sales with the brand topping 10,000 units in February
- Sales of the 2023 North American Car of the Year™, the Acura Integra, top 2,000 units for the 5th straight month, maintaining its lead in the premium gateway segment
- MDX tops 4,600 units; Type S boosts TLX sales in February

Massive issue with the supply chain. I know a friend who works for Acura and Honda/Acura had a very bad 2nd half of 2022. But as of December 2022, they resolved some of the issues if not most. We should see better numbers in 2023.

Inventory is building up nicely in the dealers around me. I'd be shooting for discounts. You're a blithering idiot if you pay over MSRP from here on out. MSRP or lower.
Hell, the elusive TLX Advance trim is back at some dealers! I thought maybe Acura was going to axe it completely, but they're back. Good sign for times ahead.

With the inventory building up and higher interest rates, I believe by Q3 or Q4, we will get MSRP and some sort of incentives. Fingers crossed!

I am surprised Integra is keeping momentum, but good for Acura and cannot wait to see ITS. Also good for the small SUV - if Integra can sell this many, the small SUV should easily be twice the volume. When will Acura announce it?

The Honda situation is really bad. A family member ordered a Civic back in July 2022, and, according to the dealership, the car is still waiting to be manufactured. This is freaking 8 months and counting for a bread-and-butter Honda Civic. The Civic is the best selling Honda car in Canada.

I will say this again-Honda badly mismanaged the supply chain situation. They somehow put themselves in a position to have the most issues of any manufacturer to get back to even a reasonable production schedule in 2023 no less!! Civic production is about 15,000 a month? CRV is abysmal as well. Wonder how some of these "Executives" hold their jobs.

They really screwed the pooch on supply chain management last year. We waited 6 months for our Integra -- luckily, we didn't need a new car at the time, otherwise, we would have had to look elsewhere.
Supply does seem to be building at our local dealers, with even a couple of TLX Type S models in stock. Never saw that in all of 2022. But out of 15 Integras on the lot at my dealer, no 6MTs. Booo.

TLX units are up, yes people are getting orders filled, but doesn't that show demand as there has to be interest in the first place for cars to be built and delivered. Overall, I barely see TLX on dealer lots. It may not be the best seller, but I think there is still interest. If there is a MMC coming Acura has no incentive to pound out TLX units to dealers anyway other than to heavily discount and drive more units to be sold Q4 of 2023 right? I'm glad to see there is movement of Acura products.

New TLX S Owner
I came back from Lexus / Toyota to get my Type S. I looked for a month and test drove several cars. Ultimately, I chose to spend my money Acura for a bunch of reasons and no have regrets. The TLX S is the best compromise for my kind of driving and the preferences I have. I paid MSRP but the dealer gave me a great trade number so I feel very comfortable with my deal.
In terms of inventory, my dealer has only 1 more Type S incoming that is available between now and the end of summer. The dealer already has deposits on the other inbound units… seems they are getting about 2 a month. The other trims seem to be selling well too as there isn’t a lot of stock in my area and many of the “in transit” cars are already sold pending delivery. There was one MDX S in the showroom but it was locked so I assume it too was already sold. I’m sure supply will catch up with demand sooner or later but the market is still wonky compared to what it was before the supply chain issues.

There are almost five dozen TLX-S's on Long Island ... either on lots or in-transit. There's absolutely no reason anyone should be paying over sticker ... including the bogus "mandatory accessories" to mask the mark-up. Supply is basically back to pre-pandemic levels. You should be vying for incentives/discounts at this point ... I wouldn't even be happy with MSRP from this point on honestly.
Driving past my local Acura dealer today while running errands and it was packed with new cars. Mercedes & Jeep were also brimming with new cars on their lots. Honda was still relatively sparse, comparatively, but there looked to be a decent stock.

Awesome! PRP is an amazing color, especially when shiny clean like yours and in bright sunshine. When we picked up our Integra, I was almost shocked at the way the color jumps in the sun. It almost has a glow about it.
Enjoy the new car, and give us a report when you have some miles on it.

Acura's sales strategy is paying off and we see it!
Prioritize MDX and Teggy!
MDX - more expensive and higher margin!
Teggy - based off Civic, probably huge margin due to sharing so many parts with the Civic!

So far, TLX sales in 2023 are 24% higher vs last year, and the chip shortage is just starting to improve. Didn't one of you claim there was no supply shortage last year? If that's true, then what caused the 24% increase in demand?

Another key note for the Integra, it gets new youthful buyers into the brand.

Contrary to my initial opinion, it seems the the Integra is doing far better than I'd anticipated. It seems that the sales figures coincide well with the number of Integras I see on the roads here in Central Jersey.

As expected, Integra is the best in class with significant lower cost. Perfect graduation from a Honda Civic or even Accord to a premium brand, Acura.
Let's be honest, a CLA or A3 doesn't have any wow factor but cost $5-$7K more. You get the Integra at lower price, more room/practical, Acura reliability and great resale value. Only downside is you cannot get AWD.

Still the worst selling vehicle in the lineup but seeing any positive number must be exciting.
And the MDX is already getting a refresh (with a new engine it looks like too) and we still don't know much about the TLX's refresh so...

Cars have finally been delivered to those who were waiting, incentives, this isn't a ground breaking number here under the circumstances. And MoM it is still -9.7% which is wild to see considering supply should have been tighter then.

I put this in the thread previously to challenge the simple reasoning of improved sales. Some are claiming the increase is due to TLX cars being built and delivered, however my point is doesn't that still support interest and demand, MoM? I think some on here want the car to fail so bad that there is little room left for conversation and logic. It's just a hard "oh, it's selling because people are taking possession their orders". 😆
