Steering groaning noise when making turns
My 2013 TL has about 102k miles on it. I’ve noticed over the past several weeks that there is a lower pitched groaning sound when I turn. It’s most noticeable when parking, but doesn’t happen all the time. It happens regardless of weather or how far I’ve driven the car.
I took it into the local Acura dealer for scheduled maintenance and asked them to take a look.
They told me that the power steering motor was wearing down and would need to be replaced at some point. They quoted me $3500 for repair.
This seems odd for a car that’s just over 100k - I’m the original owner and drive it pretty gently.
Any other recommendations or ideas as to what it could be, or where else I can take it for a “second opinion” before dropping that kind of cash?

It could be a bad bushing or loose joint that is causing the issue. Have another mechanic take a look at it.
