I just bought a new '06 5AT TL w/ navi (exactly 1 week ago! ). However, sometimes when I turn the car on I hear this loud groaning noise coming from the steering column -- any idea what this could be??

 

My '06 does the exact same thing....Mine sounds like it's coming from the seat. IT sounds kinda like a 3-4 second fart.

 

Wow, mine does the same thing but ONLY when it has gotten really hot in the car. If I park inside the parking garage at work it never does it, but if I park on top of the garage or outside, it will do it every time it gets hot. To me it has always sounded like it comes from the middle of the dash maybe even near/behind the firewall area.

 

Haha, mine sounds like my car is farting, too!!! At first, I only noticed it when it was reeeeeally hot in the car (I live in Florida) - but it has been happening more often as time goes on - and I even heard it tonight when it was dark (and not hot!) I wonder what it is???

 

huh, i have had mine for just abou t 4months now and it still only happens when it is really hot. It doesn't bother me too much since it doesn't happen very frequently.

 

so anyone found what the problem was? my is starting to do that too......

i also get this rattle noise inside the steering column and when i pull down the lever which allows u to adjust your steering wheel the rattle stops...

 

i also live in fl but i don't get that sound, and i leave my car out for about 7 hours-12 hours. i use 303 monthly near the steering wheel (ignition area).
BTW, are you coming to the mega meet?
