ok.. so i picked up this 08 TL early Jan 2012. it is a 'certified' unit but on certain days, mostly mornings, the car makes this 'whining moan & groan' (much like my wife) when driving and steering. It was getting embarrassing in the parkade as the sound is amplified in there and it is loud especially when turning left or right.

So i FINALLY managed to get it out to an Acura dealership and of course, I could not replicate the sound at the time. However, the mechanic popped the hood and noted that my power steering fluid was at the MIN line...not even close to the MAX line. He filled it up to MAX line and said give it a few days...

so far so good.. car was fine this morning... but goes to show.. if this car was certified, wouldn't fluids have been checked?

anyways, i hope that has resolved this issue.

 

hehe the cpo check list is a joke.

if the fluid fill doesnt help, there is a known issue with the power steering o-ring. replace the o-ring and it should be good to go

 

^ there's a thread on this as a DIY around here. Also; you should look for any wet spots near P/S pump; and make sure any recalls were performed.
