Are these things out yet or do dealers get a promo car? I *swear* I saw one on the street near Northbrook, IL. (No, it wasn't the 2G TSX.) The car looks really big, but the one I saw was a sand color. The grill does look big, but it wasn't offensive. Overall, I think the TL look much better in real life, and has a good presence. I definitely did not mistake it for a Saturn or Nissan. But alas, I passed it before I could snap a pic...they had to make a turn.

I know some of you were asking for rear PS tweaks. Without the greatest images to work with, I made a quick mockup of what I would have envisioned the rear of the new TL to look like. I addressed my biggest dislikes of the rear...

1) Reduced the size of the red rear reflectors
2) Trimmed the Camry-looking taillights to create synergies with the '09 RL and 3G TL taillights
3) Got rid of the Saturn Aura boomerang trunk lip
4) Made the silver "rails" running along the roof/trunk body color

I saw one of the new 2009 Maxima's with big 20-inch rims on it. It looks MUCH better than these shots of the new TL. Save $5K and have a better looking car. Seems like an easy enough decision.

You have seen the maxima in person but you haven't seen the TL. How can that be an easy enough decision?

The new 4gn TL is a 100% new car comparing it to the 3gn. maybe not so good looking, but it seems very strong shaped and better refined... Don't be in a hurry to judge...

I was just saying that and Acura does not Equal a Maxima... I own two Nissans and a 2004 TL... I wish I never bought a Nissan, feels so much cheaper (probably because they are).

The rear of the 4G TL looks like it's a throw back to the design of the 1G CL.

Well, the new TL IS BIGGER. Isn't that ALREADY COMMON knowledge? That means that it IS the same size as the Maxima now. The new TL was (apparently) fashioned after 'Mater (from the Cars movie). Granted, Mater has two of those teeth but it's still smaller than the one single gangly toofis (doofis?) the 2009 TL will come equiped with from the womb. What if I told you I saw the two cars side-by-side but didn't have a camera with me? Would you agree with me then?

New Maxima sited...Looks like crap

For all of you that think that you'll convert to Nissan:
Saw a new Maxima on the Freeway today....Its UGLY... the lower area of the car is about a foot larger than the greenhouse... it looks like crap! I have prevoiusly liked the maxima... the redesign is BAD, I thought that it looked good in Pics.... the wheels are also too narrow so that the fenders look wierd b/c they are flared like the 09TL's front... It looks like crap....

And 300HP through the front wheels only? Have you driven a 08 Maxima? hold onto the wheel...its a screwy one when you put the power on!

I like the pics of the 09 TL and love the MDX and the TSX looks much better in my opinion... its funny to me that all the car magazines say that Honda and Acura are too conservative in the design, now Acura tried to break the mold and they get hell for it!
Can't please everyone?

I'm waiting for a Type S!

i saw the new TSX on the road the other day, that car looks more like the TL the rear is flat like the 3g and not round like the 4g, and it still has the break grill that doesnt seem that bad on it, and even the headlights look like the 3g. If tsx had more power in it, id go with that no doubt.

Agreed.

acura's new shnoz looks great on the MDX, acceptable on the TSX, and horrid on the TL.

The opel looks better IMO...and I bet it doesn't have that ugly grille. Its amazing, Acura probably hires the top designers from the best schools in the country and this is what they come up with. I wonder if i'll get a job if I show them my random concept sketches and point these idiots in the right direction...

Like i've said before, i like the back end. It was in a dark beige color, which isn't flattering. The sides looked "heavy", like a Avalon.

The car in the original pic IS the car - so don't get your hopes up that there is more camo on the car other than covering the badges.
