Acura has not confirmed anything at all. But, some of the rumors sound true: There will be a FWD and a AWD car. You can see the Spy Pics for a pretty good idea of what the car will look like. You can find the 09 Colors on V Tec. After that, it's all rumors...

I would say the Color Selection Chart confirms one Base trim and one SH-AWD tirm - as well as the colors of course.
Other information, pics, etc support that circumstantially - two different exhuasts, rear diff, etc.

2009 Acura TL revealed: an early look
July11
The redesigned 2009 Acura TL will arrive in showrooms this fall, Honda announced today. The redesigned luxury sedan will be available in two distinctive versions including the first ever application of ‘Super Handling All-Wheel Drive’ (SH-AWD) on TL.
So far, details are sparse, and only a single image has been released. As previously reported, both the standard FWD and the SH-AWD model (distinguished by its quad exhaust) have been seen. When it comes to redesigns, Acura appears to be on a roll — we’ve already seen the new RL and TSX this year, and the new TL should arrive before the end of 2008, too.
In April, information leaked out of an Acura dealer meeting in New Orleans regarding the new TL. According to a source who attended the meeting, the 2009 Acura TL lineup will consist of two models: a base front-wheel drive car and an up-level all-wheel drive model. The front-driver will be powered by a 280 horsepower 3.5L V6 whereas the AWD model will receive its motivation from a 3.7L V6 producing 310 horsepower.
Despite boasting 310 horsepower and all-wheel drive, the range-topping model will not sport the Type-S nameplate. In fact, the source says that Acura will not offer a Type-S model, at least not in 2009. It remains unclear if the performance model will eventually join the lineup.
However, the SH-AWD model will sport quad-exhaust and 18 inch wheels to differentiate it from lesser TL models. Our spy photos also clearly show the car’s new SH-AWD rear differential.
Acura has promised us a new TL by the end of the year so a Los Angeles Auto Show reveal seems likely, with an on-sale date shortly after.

Works for me.
I am down for the Type-S in 2011 or 2012. I just want the Black Rims on the Mule.

I really like my 05 better, but lets face it eventually our 3G TLs are going to look old over this thing and future models. I think the new TL looks like a mixture of the Lexus GS460 and the Infiniti M35.....Acura is making the right move since the 3G TL was smaller than these vehicles...even though the 2009 TSX is a 4 cylinder, I think I would still compare it with the Lexus IS250 & G35 size wise, new TL will compete with Lexus GS350 and M35 and the new RL should compete with Lexus LS460 and Inifiniti Q45...are they still even making that thing? Regardless of whether Acura offered a V8 or not, thats the way I see it, some may agree others may not. I doesnt matter thats just my opinion.

FIGHTING ILLINI
Hummm..the front fenders seem to lack fluidity with rest of the styling. Not liking it much Those wheels are a departure from usual boring Acura designs. Like the rear half-side profile.

I'll wait to see it "in the flesh", but I can't get past that grill. The front looks like it could've been really wicked... had it not been for the grill. Not feeling it from looking at that pic. It's not butt-ugly or anything, but it just doesn't captivate...

The overall shape of this car is similar to the GS/M35/Maxima, and as I've said before, that over all shape appeals to me.

I made these photoshops using the color swatches from the acura page from the 2009 brochure that was leaked
Black
royal blue
Dark Cherry (as close as I could get it, but not sure which brown...)

I was able to do a quick side by side comparison with relatively close angles in the "1st ever acura pic" thread. Don't feel like reposting it here so I guess we can use that one for comparison?

Personally, to analyz the picture of the new TL, it has the side profile of a GS, and the front grille of the RL and stretched and sleek headlights of the TSX

Wow
You guys are like PhotoShop wizards. The Power Plenum grill is huge compared to the RL & TSX & I am not quite sure about the extra hump over the front tire. I assume that this thing will look better in the metal but so far not bad but I do wish they gave it the jagged headlight design other Acuras have.
To the poster above re the RL: yes, it is still being made & if you venture over to the RL section of the site, you can see spy shots of them testing the 2011(?) model w/ a new RWD platform. Which in my mind, after it debuts in the RL & possibly the NSX or whatever sports car they have coming, I imagine will be shared w/ the next generation TL to accommodate the next bump in HP.

2024 TLX Type-S
I actually prefer the front end with the mask, covering it up, lol. Seriously, though, I don't really like what I'm seeing. I really like the wheels, but everything else? Not so much. 310 HP for the AWD model? Given the added weight of the car, I'd have thought they'd give it slightly more power.
This was mentioned earlier, but it looks as though Acura is getting away from the "sporty" design and turning it into a big family car. That doesn't really appeal to me, so I'm glad I bought my TL-S when I did.
Oh, and that front grille is absolutely hideous. The designer deserves to be kicked in the groin repeatedly for it.
