I'm willing to believe this is true and in fact probably will happen.

My dealer told me about the exact same things about the TL standard being 3.5L Type S engine and the TL Type is the 3.7L engine from MDX.

Also note that it'll be on new platform..

ALso I live in Canada so this should justify that the rumors are consistent north of the border too. =)

That would be pretty rad to see the Legend make a return, also the TL with 3.5L and SH-AWD is simply .

I will have to see it to believe it or get word directly from Acura/Honda publication to believe it though before I get too excited.

That's Blackura cheating on us with another forum! You whore!

The only thing I like about all of this is that the Type-S gets a big boost in horses, and will be redesigned to an even more aggressive looking car than the current one. Plus, the 320hp will be based on today's guidelines...so that means it will be a fa sho rocket!!! I can't wait til 2011 (when I will be ready) and the bugs and flaws will be corrected by then on the new stuff!!!!

I'm curious as to how SH-AWD will effect 0-60 and 1/4 mile times as it does add weight. Would the new TL base have similar times as the current RL? (Same engine and both SH-AWD). The RL doesn't seem that much bigger than the TL to me, so I'm guessing the bulk of the weight difference is in the SH-AWD and maybe some other toys that the TL doesn't have. But I'm guessing that the RL goodies will migrate down to the new TL, and perhaps so will the extra weight as well?

From my experience Acura talks a big game but then never come through at the end. I obviously hope all this is true but I'll believe it when it happens.

I read somewhere in one of the car mags that Honda was testing a V8 in a Ridgeline, but that the engine was supposed to make it's debut in an RL first before it made it into an SUVs or trucks...

Diesels will also be more prevalent, since they will be allowed in CA. So who knows, maybe Acura will have some diesel cars by the end of the decade, too. I'm pretty sure the Honda brand will have a diesel Accord/Civic by 09.

That did sound a little off...that would most likely make it a CL (unless Acura is changing how they name their two/four doors). That would be great if thats true.

I don't know about you guys but really .....why are we looking into replacing our TL's if we already are happy with the choice we made... , personally when I'm done paying for mine (c'mon Sept '07)...I will keep it and if I choose another vehicle I may go with a toy.....can you say CAYMAN....the poor man's Porsche...because the TL is a keeper.........no matter what comes out on the Acura line in '09, my boy stays with me....great car, great to work on, great to look at and mostly fun to drive..... :thumbsu

[QUOTE=darksom1]That's Blackura cheating on us with another forum! You whore!

I figured that site could use some good information, they only seem to respect lexus, toyota, and bmw. I like the site (good info.), but I was tired of them sleeping on our cars! I suggest more of us get on there and represent our brand...or we can continue to let our cars be one of the best kept secrets in the auto world. What's the punishment for cheating on AZ?

Will they put any fuel saving features into these beefier engines? Turn off half the cylinders for example? Or can we expect 17 City and 26 HW on the 09 TL due to the AWD and beefy engine??

The latest iteration of VTEC is AVTEC which supposedly improves torque and fuel economy. Hopefully we will this in the new TL. Time to phase out aging J32.

Funny thing is that in Europe there are no Acura's although the euro Honda Accord IS the US Acura TSX. AND the US Acura RL is the Euro Honda Legend...

At the end of the day, the stying of the new TL & TSX is going to be the most critical factor in consumers decisions. SH-AWD and 300 plus horses is all well and good, but I don't think anyone wants to drive a fast car that is ugly as hell, but handles well! The latest concept cars that have been shown from Honda and Acura are not very promising in the styling department. The last hot looking concept from Honda was the Sports 4 concept, whatever happened to that?

I agree. I am not even thinking about replacing my 05 TL any time soon, but if I were I definitely would NOT replace my 6MT with an auto regardless of the SH-AWD or 320 HP or whatever. I hate automatics with a passion. They never shift when I want and feel significantly less connected.

Of course, I completely understand this move by Acura if it is true. The manual is considerable less popular than the auto. I am still surprised that Acura didn't move away from the manual sooner. Sucks for me, but everyone else should be thrilled. I am okay with that.

Now a cluthless manual, I would most certainly consider that.

here's a thought.....

Acura still hopes to sell cars for the '08 model year.... I think.

Why would they ever release any information about a lineup coming out a year later '09 when nobody even knows what '08 will offer is beyond me? It makes absolutely NO SENSE and I'm calling BS on all this speculation.

I thought the type-s 5AT has the clutchless manual/auto? You can paddle-shift or use the tiptronics? Not exactly the real thing, but this ad hoc stuff is good enough for a non-racer like myself ...

hmm.... with all that weight and $$ added for the AWD... i wonder if TL will hold its perceived value... if they add about $5,000 to the price... it seems there would be better choices out there... and a v-6 300 hp honda accord? hmm.....

Taking turns washing our NBPs!! Hahahahahahahahaha...

I don't think we are secrets to the world! Those other sites can't help but envy AZ! But representing in other forums is good for press!

When these new 4Gs come out, I hope I can mod my grille the same as I have it now! No matter what is on the new car, I hope I can do that still!

There's a lot of misinformation and pure conjecture in that post.
The remodel 09 TL is known, a coupe off the new TSX is probable.

TL coupe, RL coupe, larger RL, V8, and Legend stuff is pure conjecture.

Not really the same. What they have is a Sequential Automatic.

What the poster is talking about is a true Sequential Manual Transmission (SMT), aka, a clutchless "real thing good enought for a racer like himself ... ".
