This kinda makes sense since Acura released the 2008s early plus they already discounted them.

I was quoted $33,500.00 for 2007 TL-S and $35,000 for 2008 TL-S.

What do you guys think about May 2008?
Wow

Well they'll definitely be out in 2008 but I think probably more near August/September, might be wrong though.

But the TSX is supposed to debut before the TL, I doubt Acura would debut both cars simultaneously. Let's say the TSX is released in Jan 08, a May release for the TL is too close in time frame. But then again, Acura is changing things up a bit so who knows.

I think that would be awesome. Acura needs to seriously breath new life into it's products. Most of the competition have ferried out new models with great fanfare. Yeah the success of the MDX has helped a little but two new model sedans that equal or best the competition in terms of performance would be a definite boost.

This sounds like what my dealer told me (Rallye Acura in NY) about a month ago. I spoke to my sales man and he told me the 09 "will be" out in 10 months...

Not looking forward to the time it takes for the prices of the '09 TLs to get down to reasonable levels after they are released....

Early release sounds plausible because they already updated the Honda Accord and the Acura has to stay ahead....

2009' TL Release date

Acura plans to release the 2nd Gen TSX in the spring of 2008' and the 4th Gen in the fall of 2008'. The time table for the 08' model year release did come early for all models except MDX for logistics.

the 2009 tl will be released in july of 08 just as the 08 was released in july of 07. it will be totally resigned as well as the tsx. and as rumor has it acura is replacing the rsx with another model, but i have not confirmed that yet. the dealers will have prototype pictures of the tl and tsx next month. so contact them

Here is some more info:
Although this prototype is cloaked in camouflage, this is the first time its been photographed while testing during daylight hours. Usually Acura tests in the dark of night, but we were lucky to have caught this future TL in a rare afternoon test run.

Although nearly everything is covered in vinyl, a close look at what is seen of the headlamps and especially taillights, as well as the shape escaping from the disguise – we believe this carries over strong styling cues from Acura’s Advanced Sedan Concept which was first shown at the 2006 LA Auto Show.

We still don’t know too much about the 2009 TL, but our photographer was very impressed with the way he saw it handle. In his own words, he exclaimed “…its just crazy fast and looks to have a lot of grip....the guy took a corner posted at 20mph at around 45-50 with no trouble!”

The car looks slightly bigger than ours. I can't wait until it's revealed.

How can you guys tell it's an Acura TL? With all those covering, all I can say is it has four doors on it ... LOL

The rim does remind me of the current type-s style tho ...

Dash reminds me of 2008 Accord

Notice the center: looks like the navi is moved closer to the windshield?

this tester has 2 tone seats like the type-s also this ones silver and the one at night was black, and i doubt that silver would look like black at night.

IMO, it looks like that because of the angle of the photo. If this were true that it was moved closer, then there would be no dash that comes forward.

It probably is.
Isn't the 08 Accord considered a full size car now not mid-size becuase it's like 120 cubic ft cargo vol? I think I saw that somewhere. Maybe not?

Everyone seems to think that the pics are of the new TL. I may be in the minority here but I think the pics are actually of the MMC 09 RL which will probably drop in spring 08. Think about it, the 09 Pilot was also spotted and it will be coming out in spring 08. The TL isn't due until fall of 08. When was the last time anyone spotted a Honda/Acura test car this far before it comes out. Plus to me, the lines look much like the current RL including the shark fin in the back. Just my .02 but I'd say its the MMC RL not the TL.

This picture gives me a pretty good idea of what the car will look like, you can see the shape of the grills pretty well, since they aren't covered all that well.

[QUOTE=Type-S RPh]
The MMC RL had to come out this year as 2008 model (2005,06,07).
I think Acura will not work out a MMC model for the RL. The new one will be ready on 2010.
The sellings of RL are so poor that there is no meaning getting a restyling one for the next 2 years.
The shape of the car is too different from the current RL, and the front is clearly near to the TL.
In the night spy photos that were on the web on the end of July (you can watch them on www.vtec.net or www.worldcarfans.com) you can see that the front grill and the shape of the uncovered lights are very near to the current TL.

I can only hope all that "covering-up" is what's making both front and rear of this car quite unappealing to me... The entire thing looks like a Maxima with an ugly SUV front end (I like it on the MDX but not here)... Even the exhaust looks bad

Obviously just one guys opinion - yet do find it hard to believe that Acura will exceed the greatness-style/lines they achieved with the 3G TL.. I was hoping they would go further than what we see currently from Lexus/Toyota, and Nissan/Infiniti.. If not, the style/lines will be outdated when the 09 TL hits the street...

I will however reserve judgment for when I see the real deal...

The front shot seems to sho soem sort of resemblence to the shield effect ont he grill, which honeslty my be ok for a SUV, but it tiwll ruin the front end of the sedan.
also the back looks more liek the Maxima long drop, I worry that they won;t top the current TL in styling, look at the ssuccess, 04 I beleive they sold 40+K TLs and last year I beleive 70+K usually sales start dropping toward the end of the model run. Hell I owned 3, 04, 06 and 07 and just sold my 07 looking at either a TL-S or (no flames please) G35.

If you put our TL next to an 07 Accord you will notice that whlie the dashes look different and have different guages and layouts, the core placment of vents, Navi and cowl is pretty much idential, as well as the dimension and lines are close, so if you look at 08 Accord we can easily assume I-Drive setup with Navi screen pushed up top and vents below it and I suspect it will sweep back toward the glass.

Its now a full size on the same wheelbase as the RL. Only real size difference between the 08 Accord & the RL is the Accord is 1/2 inch longer.

If this is truly 2009 TL and you study the rear of the car, I don't see anything to indicate AWD or RWD?

I was going to wait to buy 2009 but I'm really close to purchase 2007 TL-S for $33,500.00.

How much better can the 2009 TL be? The price will definely be over $40K.

Here is an inside photo of an MDX. Notice the placement of the instrument pod and the screen pod. They look very similiar to the spy shot of the TL. I think we can expect a similair interior layout on the 09 TL.

One more thing. I do not notice a center channel speaker on the dash.
