Welcome! 20s will fit fine because they make 235/30R20 sized tires, which give you the same overall diameter as stock (could use 245/30R20 too among many other possible sizes depending on your wheel width). You could probably fit 245/30R21 on 21" wheels too. That's 1.2" bigger than stock, which should fit with no problems, but I wouldn't do that. Putting larger tires on defeats the purpose of getting a larger wheel (the bigger tire makes the wheel look smaller). I recommend using Google to search through the Acurazine site to see what people have done. Also browse the tire & wheel threads.

But I agree with ebelp that it will look silly without being lowered. I just got 18s with 235/40R18s (stock diameter), and I think my TL now looks like a 4x4. I'm going to lower it a couple inches or so.

Can you show us what kind of look you're trying to achieve?

Here's a 4th gen on 22s. That's probably what the 3rd gen would look like with 21s.

That pic is from this thread.

Width/Sidewall-Diameter (235/40-18)???

I'm leaning towards 8.5 wide and +33, but would 9.5 work with +22? I know at stock height I wouldn't really have any problems with anything, but what about lowering about 1.5" here in the near future? My fenders aren't rolled.

04 acura tl 6speed.

Wheel make: VOLK CE28N
Wheel size: 18.8.5 F/18X9.5 R
Wheel off set: 30mm offset F/ 34MM OFFSET R
Tires are 235/40/18 F / 255/35/18 R

Would they fit? would the front spec clear the brembo calipers without spacers? would I need fender work?

Questions on Wheels

Questions on Tires
Tire Make/Model: BF Goodrich G-force Sport COMP-2
Width/Sidewall-Diameter: 255/45/R17

Already have the tires, looking at the wheels. I'm on 17x8.25 +30 XXR 530's right now and they are rubbing with these tires. Would switching to the Enkei's alleviate my problems, even though they're 9 wide?

I think you're going to have to go with 215's the 205's may not stay on
the lip.

Questions on Wheels
Wheel Make/Model: Stance SC5 Machined Black/chrome lip
Wheel Size: 20x9 Front and 20x10.5 Rear
Wheel Offset: +32mm Front and 45mm Rear
If lowered (amount): H&R Sport on Tokico Blues so about 1.5 inch?

Before I order these rims, I already have tires on hand. Using 245/30/20 BF G-Force KDW all around. So rears will be stretched but GForce tires runs wider than normal with beefy sidewalls. Will I sit flush all around or will the rims stick out alot? What about rubbing issues? I do not want to roll fenders. I Have -2 camber in the rear and -1 up front.

Will this be ok?

They also have 20x8.5 +35mm and 20x10 +35mm as options. But I like the most concave possible.

Question on Brembo/Big Brake Clearance

Transmission: 6MT
Year/Trim: 08 Type-S
Wheel Make/Model: Drag DR-49
Wheel Size: 18x8
Wheel Offset: 35 or 45
If lowered (amount): ~1.5

Is the 45 offset the safer bet because I could always add a spacer?
Just to follow up, the 35 offset fits perfectly.

Questions on Wheels
Wheel Make/Model: xxr 530
Wheel Size (**X**):18x8.75
Wheel Offset (+**):+20
If lowered (amount):1.5" max

I have been trying to find this on the xxr thread but I couldn't find the answer. I need daily drive capability and I'm trying to avoid fender pull/roll. Just so I'm clear, +20 gives the slight poke unless I slam the car right? I'm only going to lower about 1.5 inches at the most so would the +33 not be poking at all? If that's the case then I think I'll go with the +33 because I use my car to go all around 4 cities when I work and I don't want to destroy my fenders or chew up my tires. I plan on getting 225 tires if that helps at all

I can only think of 1 TL that has ever looked with 21's. It was years ago, maybe like 2007. It was an AZine member in Japan and I think his screen name was Dancho. Look him up.

Car: Standard 2007 TL
Wheel: 18 x 9.5 +40
Tire: 265/35/18
Suspension: Stock

I know the 265 works on an 8.5" +45 wheel from this thread...

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-tires-wheels-suspension-97/they-said-couldnt-done-626278/

So I'm adding 1" in wheel width, and pushing the wheel outwards by 5mm. Do you think this will work with the stock suspension without rubbing on the inside? I know the 245/40 tire size will work for my 9.5" wheel, but I'm looking for BEEF, not stretch.

Thanks in advance for any info/advice.

Wheel Make/Model: Volk SF Challenges
Wheel Size: 19 x 8.5
Wheel Offset: +42
If lowered (amount): 1.5 inch
Tires: Probably 245/35R19 might go 235s if have to but like the lip protection with the 245s.

Don't want to have to roll.

Zero issues. Those will be sunk in pretty far... You could be lowered 3" with those specs.

It depends, mainly on tire brand. You'll need to roll the rear fender for sure. I just did this same setup on my TL. Same size wheel. Had 235/40's, went to 265/35's. I'm lowered on Tein Street Flex coils (13" hub to fender gap), and it barely clears these, not sure if it would clear on stock suspension. I don't think this setup will work with any other wheel than a 18x9.5 +40. I think if it were a +38 it would rub the front fender, and a +45 probably wouldn't clear the control arm in front or the coilover on the rear. A +42 might, but it would be close.

Thanks for the response man! The tires I bought were 255/40 because I wanted to be safe, but I can still send them back if I change my mind because they haven't been mounted. So, with stock suspension you think I'd need to roll the rear? Is this because there is no negative camber to tuck the tire a bit? And if that's true, I would need to do something to the front as well, as the front pokes 5mm more than the rear stock. Your thoughts?

Finally getting rims for the ride.. 2008 Base TL

Questions on Wheels
Wheel Make/Model: Rota MXR-R
Wheel Size (**X**): 18x9.5
Wheel Offset (+**): +38
If lowered (amount): Eibach Pro Kit 1-1.5"

Will be using Dunlop Direzza's in 245/40/18.. Will be rolling fender in the back just in case (I do fender rolling)

Will this clear with the fender roll? Will I need to roll the front also?

I pulled a TSX front once but the guy was running 10" wide rims..

But I understand this setup would clear front and back.. Any feedback will be appreciated..

Question on Brembo/Big Brake Clearance
Transmission (Manual or Auto): Auto
Year/Trim (04-07, Base or Type S):Type S
Wheel Make/Model: Lancer EVO MR Enkei Wheels
Wheel Size (**X**): 17x8
Wheel Offset (+**): +38
If lowered (amount): Will be lowered by 1"

Will these wheels work on the TL-S? I couldn't find any pictures. I don't think I will have any rubbing issues if the tires are 235/45/17.

As long as you roll the rears you'll be fine.

I can't help with the Brembo clearance but you won't have any fender rubbing issues.

I was thinking that the Brembo clearance should be fine since the EVO has Brembos too? But if anyone knows for sure if they clear or not then that would be very helpful! I am trying to pickup a set across the country!

I know I have to run a 15mm spacer in the front to clear the brembos, my question is will the wheels stick out too much? And what tires would I have to run?

20s and beefy tires will make the car look horrible.

Offset of "really high" doesn't help us give you a proper tire size. What is the exact offset?

Those rear specs are really aggressive. You'll need to roll your rear fenders and stretch tires. 225/40 up front and 235/40 rear.

I'm ok with a little stretch. What about camber ? I don't want to be running a bunch of negative camber. A few degrees I'm ok with.
