Replacing PCV Valve for "Tighten Gas Cap" Message

Hey everyone,

Like a lot of you, I have been dealing with this "Tighten Gas Cap" message for a while now. I dealt with it in my older 07 TL Base also, but it went away after a while.

I have an 07 TL Type S now, and the message pops up much more frequently. After doing some research, I decided to replace the PCV Valve. Unfortunately, it was in there pretty tight, and when I was trying to remove it, the plastic valve broke and now there are pieces remaining in the valve cover that are too tight to just get with my fingers, and the pliers have nothing to grab. Any way to get it out aside from removing everything? I'll be sure to update y'all and let you know if it fixes the TGC message.

Thanks!

Blow compress air into the hole (with the tip of the nozzle deep in the valve cover) and flush the pieces back out.

You changed the wrong valve. You need the valve on the side of the engine not the pcv valve in the valve cover.

the purge control solenoid is what you want to change. if your part was only $20 instead of $100, it's the wrong part.

the purge control solenoid is super simple to change and you can't mess it up...all you do is remove 2 screws, take off 2 hoses and you're good to go. i did this about a month ago

Do you have a diagram or anything showing where it is? I'm still working on taking off the valve covers so I can remove the plastic fragments. I do not have the tools to blow compressed air into the hole.

look up the parts on acuraoemparts.com. it will show you a diagram for the correct part and the wrong part that you are trying to remove

There's a thread about this and the message drove me crazy, so I ordered the part and had my mechanic swap it. No more "tighten gas cap" message!

Replaced the solenoid. Good call, it was pretty simple. I'll check back in a few weeks and let you know if message comes back or not.

Anyone else have the engine light kick on after the tighten gas message had stopped briefly? It seems to jus be another warning light for the same thing how it kicks on only when the tight gas cap message stops briefly.
