DIY Clutch replacement?

Has anybody done a write-up on DIY clutch replacement before? I have tried searching but have not found a DIY. I'm familiar with a clutch job but I'm curious as to what methods you guys have tried. Would it be easier to pull the engine and transmission out together or just drop the subframe? This would be done without access to a lift. Vehicle is an 04 6 speed.

Thank you!

I am replacing in the near future. I have contemplating taking the engine and trans out from the top, but I think removing the subframe method is the best. I don't have a lift but I do have stands like the photo below (Mine have a much larger platform) that I use for doing my own alignments. I know I can get the car high enough to remove the subframe and transmission from below using these and jack stands to support the front half of the car. My local dealership wanted ~$2100 for the labor and parts. I am going to upgrade to an aftermarket clutch & FW combo and get all new motor mounts for less when I do it myself

It is much easier to drop the subframe and support the engine from above as stated in the service manual, but you're going to need something like this:
