missing HID headlight cut off line completely

hi everyone, i have 2005 TL with factory HID headlights. I have replaced at one time the bulbs and everything looked normally. skip ahead a few years and the cut off line disappeared totally and just get a big 'flooding' of my head light on side of building lighting up everything. what happened? how to fix please? not to familiar with head lamp assembly but am good with tools and basic now how..

there is a little flap that opens and closes to control the cutoff and highbeam. Either it's stuck on, or a wire has been cut/disconnected that controls it.

or perhaps a bulb isn't seated correctly.

Lack of defined cut-off is almost always a mis-seated bulb....or the lens is just so damn hazy it blurs it all out.

To be clear - there is the wire outside the headlamp and one inside. The wire inside the headlamp sits just below the bulb housing. I had it disconnected once after headlamp repair - it was a pain to reconnect it with headlamp on the car. However it is barely possible it disconnected itself as it sits tight.
