2013 TL oil leak

Hi,
My daughter has 2013 TL she bought 4 years ago at 34K miles, now car has 93K miles.
She didn't have any problems so far.

However mechanic listed oil leak between engine and transmission.
(NOT the dealer mechanic but her mechanic few months back).

She is in the process of trading it in with a dealer but I would like to buy it out if the repair is not too expensive.
Dealer is giving her $9500 so I would pay her the same.

I have not seen the leak but can someone give rough idea what it could be?
Is that engine main seal?
I have seen estimates of $600-800.

Thank you,
Robert

That is the rear main seal, and it can cost a bit in labor to do it. You can always try running a different oil and changing the PCV and see if the problem goes away. I had a similar issue on my MDX when I changed to an oil that had a LOT of detergents and cleaners and was supposed to be the best (it prob its). I switched back to Mobil 1 Extended Performance and the drip disappeared the next day.

How is the condition of the car? $8900 is average, and since the car has less miles the estimated value is 9640 in average condition, and in Clean condition (no accidents/dents, etc) it's $10,915. If she can get them up to 10.5 on trade in then it's a great deal.

Car is in great condition. Not a single issue since she bought it exactly 4 years ago (Dec 2016).
She put 60K miles, put brand new tires in Feb 2020.
My daughter sent me picture of mechanic bill/note it said "Minor leak"
That was Feb 2020.
She had no noticeable leak under car so I do NOT think its a major issue.
She already signed over title for $9500 but they have not issued check yet.
She talked to Sales guy and he said to contact Accounting Monday.
Let's hope she can get it back because it will become my Son's car.

So I got the car from my daughter.
While changing oil I took some pictures of underside.
The leak does not look serious.
I used break cleaner and cleaned up all underside.
I will see by next oil change how bad is the leak.
Attached some pictures of before/after cleanup.

That is a nice TL for a great price! Congratulations. That leak doesn't look bad at all, just run some high mileage oil and see if it stops. There are also some sealers you can pour in if it gets worse.

Thanks, I cleaned it up back in December and did not see any leak since.
I will check again in sprint time.

My son and I changed all 4 struts and car drives almost like new.
Also no oil consumption.

OEM struts

I bought 4 OEM strut assemblies. SH-AWD version, since that is what I have.
Expensive ($844) but good investment to keep car for next 5-7 years.
I bought it from Curry Acura.
I also changed sway bar links (after market) and front upper arms.
initially they were bit harsh, but after 2 weeks and spraying AT-205 sealant on all rubber bushings it drives like new.

Yeah those OEM shocks really ride pretty rough. I'm in the process of replacing mine and I'm looking for softer options. I'll give that spray a try and see if that fixes mine thanks!
