wow... just as a tip don't move around so much so fast... I'm feeling pretty dizzy...

From the crappy youtube converters that dulled the sounds, it appears that your belt tensioner has become a bit noisy. Have them check and replace it.

I'm fine now, no need to apologize. I suggest you have the ticking documented so the dealer has it on record in the event something happens. BTW do you use 91+ octane?

I believe the OP was using 87 or 89 for a while but I don't think it's engine knock. I'd be worried about the precats though. I can't tell from the video.. seems like YT really chops up the audio sampling. I'd seafoam it in both ends to clean up the fuel injectors and valves and make sure you buckle up!

Any other symptoms? CEL? How's your mpg?.. What's that noise right after you're accelerating.. it sounds wishy-washy.. I can't tell if its background noise / turn signal / or related to the sound you're describing. I'd check for any leaks through the intake and exhaust gaskets..

Did you ever get the problem fixed? I have the same knocking sound from my engine and i just had a new transmission put into the car. Yeah at 35000 miles my 05 TL needed a new transmission...go figure...since then ive been having so many problems with the car. When i accelerate i smell a burning type of smell and when idling in park, reverse or drive you hear the knocking sound coming from the right side of the engine as though it were the belts or the pulleys. when i accelerate you can cant hear it with the hood closed but when open and reving the engine in park you can really hear the knocking noise get faster. Im taking my TL in to acura within the next hour to have them check it out so ill post their diagnosis after i find out. They said its going to be wear and tear if its the belts which i think is complete BS since the cars been having problems ever since they replaced the transmission.

Check your plugs make sure they're all torqued down, esp #5 (front center, by radiator).

did check the plugs and double checked if they are good and tight. But ts not coming from the engine. Its coming somewhere between the gas pedal cable that goes through the wall from the inside to the engine(throttle body). Is their a way i can post video!

Alright folks I have found and took care of that annoying sound. I was coming from the Vapor Canister Purge valve. Replaced it and the noise gone.

2008 TL Knocking Noise

Hello fellow TL owners! This is my first post on the forum and hoping to get some help. My 2008 TL has 98K miles on it and has knocking noise coming from the engine for the last 4-5 weeks. It syncs with engine revs. Please see the linked video and advise if this is something serious. It's a 3.2L 2008 TL.

A lot of them sound like that - several other threads here about it. I'm not sure what the cause of it is or how serious it is, but I think a lot of them have been making that noise for quite some time.

One thing you could try it this:

Inside engine

Sounds like your lifters are not getting lubrication. So it's definitely inside the engine. Not external.

Hey good morning all, I have a 2004 Acura Tl 3.2 and I am having a similar issue. When I start the car it sounds like a rumble coming from the engine and I can almost feel it while my foot is on the brake pedal. When I put the car in drive and take off slowly I can hear it rattle a little bit more. At low speeds (taking off) it does it a lot, but on the highway it seems like it drive fine.

Any ideas?

While standing outside when the car is idling can you hear anything? and if so the location where it sounds like it's coming from?

Seems like this is getting more common as the car ages with all Tls? Anyone have an update on this issue? Like most of the members said noise is coming from the passenger side of the engine and is more apparent when under the starter and ac condensor area?

Tapping sound?

Hello just curious, was your car making a tapping noise when the car was in park, reverse or drive and would go away as soon as the car started moving or accelerate? I'm having this issue and I can't find the source of the problem.

Ticking knocking noise at idle from engine.

Hi so I sold the vehicle some time ago, but what I remember, I had the car in idle and found the solenoid for the vapor canister purge valve causing the noise, it's all one piece. Should be located back, right side engine.
