Dealer wants to REMOVE my DASH!!! Please Advise!!!
I have a 08MY Type-S. There is a strange squeak/rattle at the junction between the LHS A-pillar, Dash, and front windshield. That corner of the dash moves slightly during normal driving. Recently, that corner started to squeek loudly. I brought to the dealer to fix. They acknowledge that it's a defect, but can't figure out what is wrong. They want to remove the dash/IP to try and find the problem!!
I know that anytime you remove the dash, it could cause MANY more issues like rattles. Not to mention, in the TL, they would have to remove the entire center console as well!
Do I refuse this operation? Try to find a way to fix it myself?? Anyone else have this rattle and know a fix??
Please advise. I don't want to MORE headaches down the line because of them removing EVERYTHING and trying to put it back together properly.
TIA!!

Let them do it. I'm assuming it'll be covered under the warranty because its a new car. They are trying to take care of you. You'll get a loaner vehicle in the mean time, while they attempt to find out whats wrong with yours. Take advantage of it.

To add on to my previous post since I can no longer edit it...
I have removed the dash for every car I have owned right down to the firewall to install sound deadener. I have not had a single issue with fitmint/noises afterwards. You should take full confince in the Acura Techs to fix this isssue. If done right you'll end up with a dash that no longer rattles/moves (as you describe it).
In fact, in my Dakota I started off with a lot of rattles /issues and with a little patience I had everything apart and put back together with no noise. I've repeated this in all of my personal installs as well as a few professional installs.

Do not let them take it out, that could result in a lot more problems. Have them tighten up the bolts for it. Also instead of taking it out, have them clear out stuff from under it and foam it up in there.

Don't let them remove the dash. You will def. end up with new rattles and probably some nice marks in your seats, paint damage, and god knows what else. They will probably end up breaking plastic clips and fasteners and not replace them-that's how you end up with new noises. The dealership usually does the best they can, but the incentive is not there to do it like you or I would (as in $$$$ from Acura for rattle warranty claims)

Let them do it. you guys just scare because removing the dash seem to be a big job and too many parts remove? what could been wrong? it is only a piece of fiber cover the metal part body. Let them fix it.

Heres the fix Honda suggests
Got an ’04–07 TL in your shop with a faded or
blotchy-looking dashboard? (It’s called the
instrument panel in the parts catalog.) What’s
probably causing this is the compatibilizer
material in the dashboard is migrating through the
cover. After the material ages, proper cleaning
and an application of vinyl protectant should
restore it to showroom condition. Keep in mind,
though, if you clean the dashboard before all that
material has migrated, you may need to clean it
again and reapply the protectant.
To clean the dashboard, first moisten a clean,
white towel with Acura Spray Cleaner & Polish
(P/N 08C25-P011M), then vigorously rub the
panel until the discoloration goes away. Clean the
dashboard twice, wiping in different directions, to
get the best results.
NOTE: Acura Spray Cleaner & Polish may not be
available in your area. If it’s not, try using
Meguiar’s Gold Class Rich Leather Cleaner/
Conditioner (P/N G-10916) instead. You’ll find it
in many retail auto supply stores. You can also
order it by calling 800-347-5700 or visiting the
Meguiar’s website at www.meguiars.com.
After you’re done cleaning, moisten another fresh
towel with Acura Vinyl/Leather Protectant
(P/N 08740-PC008), and liberally apply this
product to the dashboard. Do this twice, wiping in
different directions, to make sure you’ve covered
all areas.
Try not to spray the cleaner or vinyl protectant
right on the dashboard. These products are tough
to remove from glass, and glass cleaners could
actually stain or discolor the dashboard.
