A/C leak
A/C leak
So my a/c started to feel like it wasn't as cold anymore i took a look at the fans, compressor clutch and everything seemed fine but when i took the high and low pressure caps off the high pressure schrader valve was leaking. Took it to the dealer today and they tell me that a new schrader valve did not fix the leak and needed the whole line to be replaced and a recharge. Total cost being 430, i was tempted to get a ride back to the dealer and install the line myself and have them recharge but what can you do!!!!
Just Info for anyone that this might happen too!

i have an a/c leak and i can't find it. i recently charged the system. it was cold for about a day and then got warm. i used dye and the dye enhancing glasses. cant find it leaking anywhere. looked all over for leaking dye with no luck. I'm completely baffled. I'm gonna try charging the system again and then look. wondering is there a common spot for leaks on the 3g???
Schrader Valves
Since this thread is already up.. My AC didnt seem as cold as it should be for a month or 2 now... I thought it may need a new shot of refrigerant.. I did it once about 12 yrs so I thought "its old, and its low" so no biggie. Well, I drove from Dallas to Tulsa last weekend and on the way, the AC completly stopped cooling. I shot R134a in it when I got to Tulsa and it began cooling again.. So I was hopeing that was all it needed. But overnight, the Low Side ran completely to Zero PSI again.. So, rather than buying Dye and more R134a and trying to fix it while outof town.. I thought, "just get a diagnostic" and I will fix it later and replace any leaking tubes or components like a condenser... but hopefully the Compressor wasnt bad. That would be a larger project. So I took it to a small shop in Tulsa, and he susupected a large leak because it drained out so fast. I agreed. So he said a fast leak is best detected by using Dye, rather than a R134a halogen sensor.. He said a sensor like that would be reading R134a all over the place because the leak is so big. So, he used DYE. And he found the High Side Shrader valve was leaking... badly.. He said, "I can fix it in 30 minutes if you want to wait".. So I said OH PLEASE DO.. hahha So, he replaced BOTH Low side AND High side schrader valves and charged it... And now its BuRR again.. (138k miles.) ..I narrowly escaped that one! He also said, "that is a pretty nice little car you got there"...
