Battery draining issue
So i just got back from a one week vacation, and my battery is dead, its a one month old optimus yellow top, i recharged it and then tried again later and it was still a little weak, so i sat in the car with everything turned off and i heard a relay go off about every minute behind the cluster, Its a very small tick noise. ANY IDEAS?? Ive heard about this happening with other vehicles and the cause was the cd changer was going off on its own. Going to the dealership tomorrow if anything.

Hfl
I just had the same thing happen with my 2006 TL after a week's vacation. The local Acura service dept. diagnosed the problem as the HFL unit was turning itself on and off. I've not yet decided where I will replace the unit myself although, with all of the info I've read on this site, that seems quite doable.

same here my HFL unit went out on my 2006 tl, after a day or two without turning my car on it would drain my battery completely, went to the dealer and they told me it was my
HFL unit, so all i did was pop of the dome light and got a couple of stews off and disconnected the unit since i hardly ever use it, better than spending 300-400 on a new one and that solved my problem, best advise would be to try to disconnect it and see if it solves your problem bro.

^ This is the place to start.
There are a lot of delayed circuits (key cylinder, dash lights, etc) that come into play. But after a certain period of time, the current flow should drop to under 25mA.
If a phone is in close enough range to stay connected, then the HFL unit will never turn off, but there is an issue with many where it doesn't turn off regardless of a connections. So as Sickboy says, start with removing the HFL.
Do you have any means of measuring the current draw from the battery? If not, the next best thing is the dealer.

Definitely could be your HFL unit. There was a service bulletin (B05-020) issued by Acura way back in 2006 addressing the problem of the HFL not disconnecting from Bluetooth even when the car is turned off. I have read several posts from users who were able to get their dealer to perform the repairs free of charge, but it's been so long and most of the models from '04 and '05 are obviously now out of warranty.
I've had 2 batteries die early and I've had my '05 since early '06. The first time was due to a defective battery that was replaced under warranty, and I just replaced that one with an Interstate model just late last year. I know my car has the defective HFL but I never tried to have the dealer replace it for free; just don't use it enough I guess.

Hi. I've been having a similar issue with my 05 TL. A while ago it seems to be dead. I assumed that it was the battery because i had left the car at the airport a few times. I have taken it to the dealer and the dealer says that the battery, starter and alternator are fine. The disconnected the HFL too. The issue seems to have gotten worse as it has become colder. Basically my accessories work fine, the battery light never comes on. It takes several tries to start the car. I can't help, but wonder if the cable going from the battery to the starter is cracked or something. The battery's electrodes are also clean and the ground wire looks fine too. I have noticed that the car has a better shot if I turn off the accessories when I try to start it. It's totally bizzarre because for a while it was just random. Sometimes it would start fine, other times you could tell that the starter didn't have enough power to do anything. now it's just always weak.

87 dollars could have been saved bro, you could have simply just ask one of us to give you instructions on how to unplug it, takes less Than 5 minutes to do. But glad to hear your problem was solved.

HFL was draining my new battery
YUP, just replaced mine. Feel the front left side of the housing unit where your driver dome light is located. That's where the HRL is housed. If it's warm after your car has been parked for a while, then it's not shutting off and therefore causing that parasitic drain on your new battery. It took me 2 new batteries, numerous jump starts, an ECU reflash and this forum to figure it out. No problems ever since. Got mine from: http://parts.sonsacura.com/
Here's the part number if you have the 04-06, Black Leather interior: TELEPHONE ASSEMBLY, HANDS FREE (MOON LAKE GRAY) 39770-SEP-A02ZA$163.05
$ 163.05Shipping & Handling (MD, USA)$ 23.00Total
$ 186.05
Good luck

Before you replace you may want to read what geepurs did in this thread -
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...7#post13854757
You still may wind up replacing but you might want to try this free fix first.
