2005 TL Positive battery terminal end

Hey guys, my son has a 2005 TL, was changing the battery when taking off the positive battery terminal end, it was so rusted it snapped off, now I need to know is it simple to just buy a terminal end replacement ($6), or is it much deeper than that, just asking because years ago my wife had a 2001 pathfinder and it was not as easy as just replacing the terminal end due to it having a bypass, he needs this car for school and I would like to be able to fix it for him as quick as possible, if I have to bypass the bypass, please let me know how this can be done (miss this site btw)

Pretty sure there are some on here that used a generic replacement end from the parts store with varying degrees of success/failure. My vote....go order the replacement cable and replace the entire thing. Not something I would want to futz with over the years with another failure. If I am remembering correctly, the entire cable was around $80 or so. Mine failed several years ago as well and I had the dealer replace it.

I replaced my positive cable end with a clamp that I bought at autozone.

Thanks for responses guys, looking to go the quick and cheap route right now, will replace the entire piece at a later date, @joecop67, that is what I purchased, was it as simple as clipping and attaching?

Yes it was. I may purchase a whole new positive cable because when I stripped back some of the insulation on the cable, it looked to be filled with corrosion.
So next time I have an issue I’m going to swap the cable out.

Got it, thanks for the info, just didn't want to run into an issue where when I put the new clamp on it does not start

Also one last thing, I still have the old clamp on, but the bolt part is the piece that broke off, instead of cutting it off, can I just buy a small hose clamp from home depot, wrap the clamp that is on there and just tighten it, would that work also?

I don't know. I pried open the old clamp and put to new clamp on. I didn't want to cut it, that would have shortened the cable.

Sorry for my ignorance, sounds good, how did you do that, because that's the position i'm in, would rather not cut it
