I had the same exact problem when I put in a new Optima & new terminals last month. The post seamed a little greasy on mine? I scratched up the post & the inside of the terminal a little, & tightened it till I thought I'd break the allen wrench. Its holding on fine now.

im thinking of cutting come wood as wide as the bottom of the battery, but not bigger then the battery cover itself to raise up the battery so the posts are higher to the terminals. think thats a good idea?

Sometimes it can be that the clamp is upside down or that the clamp bolt is not sitting correctly and does not apply sufficient pressure on the post to stay put.

it could be a worn down bolt, whatever the case, why would u go through the hassel of cutting a piece of wood?!
just change the damn terminal! its only a couple of bucks.

and they grease the terminals to prevent acid from building up on the terminal itself. I'm sure you've seen some batteries, that look like they're moldy on the terminals, all this white flaky stuff, thats the acid reacting. Thats why if you grease it, it won't happen. And if you do have that acid build up, use hot water and pour it on the terminal, cleans it away nice and quick and then grease after.

well to buy a terminal from the dealer, they require you to buy the whoe power assembly. so im not going that route. im getting my car dynamatted tomorrow so i will have one of the guys change the terminal and relocate my power wire for my system to the car.

its ghetto rigged for right now. we just added another washer and nut to the terminal to hold the power wire in place so it wont move.

I had this problem.

It's because the Yellowtop is shorter than the OEM battery. Therefore, the terminal posts have a hard time clearing the battery case.

I cut out a little slot for the wires in the battery case, and the problem was solved. Very simple.
