'08 TL Type S noise cancellation issue/solution

08 TL type s noise cancellation module located under center speaker

I have an 08 TL type S and I've replaced the factory speakers and added another amplifier, but as soon as I started driving there was engine-like noise coming from the speakers. I was told that the car has noise cancellation and that usually the issue is solved when you disconnect either microphones from the front and rear of the dome lights. But in this case the noise only subtlely lessened and persisted.
In the end I had to disconnect the noise cancellation module located under the center speaker and loosen the nuts to push the thing up allowing to disconnect the module.
After disconnecting it, the sound changed so much, it was like the contrast between night and day.

I have the same exact issue with my sound system. The noise is only noticable when the volume is low. I will try your method and disconnect the noise cancellation module located under the center speaker and see if that helps. Will you lose the navi voice prompts all together, or just lose the muted speaker volume when the navi voice is activated.

I've only used the BLUTOOTH and thats been working fine, i honestly havent tried the NAVI to see if theres a problem with the voive prompt. Am using an RCA converter thats connected to the factory AMP speaker. Ill check it out and let you know if the NAVI voice still works

I think when using Bluetooth the sound is cancelled all together while talking. When using navigation the radio volume is muted to allow you to hear the center speaker voice prompts. I'm not completely sure which function the noise cancellation module does.

The Type-S also comes with the Acura Navigation System with voice recognition and rear view camera, as well as Active Noise Cancellation that reduces low frequency exhaust noise via two microphones in the ceiling: the mics capture low frequencies entering the cabin and send them to the Active Noise Cancellation unit in the dash, which creates a reverse phase audio signal that emanates from the door-mounted speakers and the subwoofer. Acura says it reduces low-frequency “booming” by 17 decibels.

i did desconnect the front and rear mic and the sound wasn't clear and i was using a focal krx2 on the front doors but after I disconnected the noise cancelation module the sound was clearer than before . The difference was like day and night after disconnecting the module . there was a huge difference .
