Navigation Hack - Re-post with all files to mod screen and remove nag
I've had my 2005 TL with Navi for 3 years. Since day 1, I found on this site a few threads that show how to mod your Navi system. The problem was, most of those threads were so old, almost a decade, most of the files and links were expired. I tried many times over the past years to find up-to-date thread with valid files that would allow me to, at least, mod my splash screen and remove the nag. During that time, I was able to gather fragments of the required files to apply the mods, and finally, I have a working solution that was tested and successful as of 30 minutes ago.
I am sure there are many users that only hoped for a similar thread to come back alive, so I decided to revive it. I hope others can participate to make this thread complete, but until then, I will supply the tools needed to allow you to change your splash screen background and remove the safety nag.
I cannot speak for others, but this has been tested on a 05 TL running v3.50 orange DVD.

It includes the "dumpnavi.exe" GUI, a set of instructions, and a demo of a splash screen, which happens to be the one I used.
Step 1: Copy these 9 files from your original DVD in a new folder on your computer.
Step 2: Find your bootloader file by inserting your DVD back in car, then after splash screen, press Map/Guide + Menu + Cancel for 5 seconds, then press Version, then press Menu for 5 seconds and check what's the name of the .bin next to loader filename (or something close to that, I don't remember the exact name). In my case, it was "BNHH401A".
Step 3: Launch the "dumpnavi.exe" and select the booloader file you just found.
Step 4: You have 2 options you can check, chose which one you want to apply.
Step 5: If you decided to change your splash screen, you will have to create an image that is exactly 480x234 in size, it has to be in RGB format, use 8-bit colors, and be a .bmp file. If you want to use a custom image, or make your own, search the internet how to convert a picture using those requirement...in my case, I just found an old thread with a bunch of pre-made files, most of them were already corrupt, but some of them still work. I found a file that came in .png, I just changed the extension by renaming the file from .png to .bmp and accepting the warning.
Step 6: Rename your finalized image to "back.bmp" and select it in the "dumpnavi.exe" and click Modify. If all went well, you should get a confirmation of success.
Step 7: You now have to burn the 9 files on a DVD. And this is where I spent hours figuring out why my DVDs weren't working. You have to burn using DVD-ISO method, using slowest burning speed and finalizing disc.
Step 8: Go to car with both discs, turn key to ACC position (last position before start), insert you original Navi DVD and wait until you see safety warning, then press Map/Guide + Menu + Cancel for 5 seconds, then press Version.
Step 9: At this point, you have follow this to the letter. Open plastic cover that protect the DVD player, then, pull down the DVD slot door to reveal Eject button. Press Eject and insert the DVD with the modified bootloader and the rest of the .bin files. LEAVE THE SLOT DOOR OPEN and quickly run to the Nav screen and press Disc Load, then quickly run back and close the slot. At this point, look through back windows and you should see a loading screen. As soon as thats done, you can open the slot and re-insert your original DVD. Now turn off the car, and turn back on to ACC position and your custom screen should appear and nag screen gone.
I still wish I could find the files for the trip computer, if anybody has a working version with a set of instructions, please post them so we can completely revive this topic.

Here is the link to the Navi screens other users have already made. I also found that searching for "acura navi screen" and filtering results by resolution to only display 480x234 also gives a bunch of results.

Sorry for the link not being posted above, the edit policy on this site is quite ridiculous, here it is: https://acurazine.com/forums/audio-b...images-589562/
I also found a very useful and easy to use program to edit any image so its compatible with our navi, its called FastStone Image Viewer. Take any picture, resize to 480x234, you can play around with aspect ratio not to have a stretched image, then reduce colors to 256 or 8-bit, save in bmp, rename to back.bmp and its ready to be uploaded to .bin
Here are some sample backgrounds i just made
