I am gettin this done in the spring! I know the price is steep but I don't care! I want my grille finished off right. My grille is OK but it won't hold up for another 3 years.

I wonder why they offer the hood piece?? Maybe if you want it to look more plasticky?? I'm gonna take this, paint it body color or carbon fiber it and redo the mesh (if it is cheap quality) with the high quality powder-coated stuff I have already!!

I am SO excited!!!
Keep us updated, if I still had my TL, I'd be all over this ASAP.

You have to remove the wing-pieces from the mid grill.. and remove the V part of the grill.
From there you need to cut out the cross-bar and the part that raises up a bit.

OK tbdefense looks like you are first up on this mod. Post some pics and give us some feedback of what the product is like.

I am gonna do it too in a few months, no rush for me. My only concern is that the sides of the "v" look a little chunky and thick. I kinda like it thin the way it is now. I can't use the body color trim on that piece either.

I am most probably going to retrofit the mesh I already have on my grille. Do some carbon-fiber work on it maybe......Looks like I am going to fabricate a hybrid of what I have with this readymade grille and have the best of all worlds! I gotta plan and figure this out!

Dude.. Rocky that'd be sick! Do it up!
I'm thinking of just reading up on how to work with CF.... I don't know how different it is than with Fiber-glass.
Once I figure out how to work with CF properly... I'm thinking of making a CF version of the grill while using the factory V part of the grill.

I think I have an idea of how I can fabricate it as well...

Yeah, I color matched the license plate area to the factory paint, shaved the "A" badge, and masked the reverse lights. It looks so much better.

Pretty ballsy, dude. Looks pretty good!

I tossed that idea around when I painted my rear trim white, but I backed out because I wasn't sure what to do with the reverse lights.

Do any of you guys have any good ideas for preventing rock chips? Has anyone applied a clear bra to the inner front grille before?

here it is guys! i did it all in under 2hrs.

here is my DIY:

2 piece product from ebay

1. REMOVE FRONT BUMPER
2. REMOVE CENTER PIECE and emblem FROM GRILL ( screws )
3. CUT OUT CENTER BAR behind emblem ( hacksaw )

4. either sand down the edges or just hacksaw it off more.

5. PUT BUMPER BACK ON

6. BY NOW YOU SHOULD HAVE REMOVED ALL THESE PARTS

7. NOW YOU NEED TO DRILL A HOLE ON EACH SIDE .( THERE ARE MARKINGS)

THESE ARE THE DRILL BITS I USED

I USED SAME CLIPS AS ORIGINAL GRILL

8. JB WELD THE BOTTOM AND YOUR DONE!!!

I WILL POST BETTER PICS TOMORROW IN THE DAYLIGHT.

Hmn. Not bad.. the V part is a lot thicker than I had thought.
Also the part they made for the hook hangs lower than I had thought too.
All in all.. Not bad.
Are you going to put the A emblem on?

Also how do you find the quality? Also how is the mesh?

That's for the hook of the hood. If you notice, the hook/hinge thing goes down into the grille. If it is straight--the hood will not close and secure properly.

i dont know if im putting the emblem on yet. i will take pics of both tomorrow in the daylight.
grill quality is pretty good. It was made in Hong kong.
mesh seems like it was put on by hand with wire clips and glue on back. from front looks clean though.

Nice man thanks for sharing that with us. I am on the fence until I see the day pictures. If they had left the top part straight without putting the loop in for the handle I would be sold. Can't wait for the daytime pictures.

Just wonder the bottom section of grille would be moving or loose since there are only two clips holding on top of the grille?

after lookin at it today. i probably could have done a better job welding it to the bottom. if you look closely you can see that the left part of the the grill (rt side of pic) has a little space at the bottom. but not that noticeable from a cpl of feet away.

hope you all like it. i sure do. mesh matches lower bumper mesh. one of a kind in my city.

Yeah I agree about the hood release indent. But how else could you do it? The handle would jut into the grille mesh, they had to design it that way. On the stock car Acura made a clever grille design that integrates it so you don't notice it. Because the mesh is so plain it makes it stand out.

The thing is it doesn't seem as noticable on my custom grille job. I don't want to nitpick but it also seems like the grille is a little uneven and could have been a bit higher and closer to the hood? I wonder what this would look like painted? I know someone is going to try that soon! Overall, it is a good job and I thank you for sharing these pics!
