The gold is too common....teal FTW. I feel okay suggesting teal since you live 8 states away.

GP, edit this one in teal:
EDIT: What's with the image auto-resizing?! Is it a photobucket thing or a forum thing? Very lame...

Teal....FTW.
#6453
Ironically enough, after test fitting the RDX covers, I'm inclined to not use them. They don't hide enough of the oem mechanism behind it. I am almost thinking I like the subtlety of the rear calipers without anything extra on them. I'll do things the right way regardless and clean and paint the rears, so when I test fit, I'll take pictures and make a final determination.

Paint the calipers teal. It's only the top part and maybe some of the bracket.

Hey everyone, hope you're having a great Super Bowl weekend.
So, mine went like this...
Last night, decided to test fit the 25mm spacers from the accord salvage...fit VERY close (read not worth the mission or loss of corrected camber)...but on the aspecs, which I was going to put on because my work tires need to be changed soon, they rubbed. I just did it to see if I'd sell or keep...and I'll keep and revisit it later.
Also, swapped Betty's amber bulb for her turn signal to a chrome dipped one...the ebay seller had sent me a plastic based one that didn't work...and without question sent me the glass based one. Awesome.

what you know bout dat caddy, doe>!>?!

So, that leaves this morning...as most of you know, I'd be itching to do a new caliper color and rear rdx caliper cover. Awesome...list of shit that got done
-air in tires
-calipers painted
-caliper covers installed
- used my grinder to add more of a bevel to the edge of my brakemotive brake pads (to avoid a very near return of the whirring sound, see image below)
- washed rims, inside and out, polished exhaust, cleaned car
- added megs trim stuff to the bottom air dam
- cleaned up pads and shims and added graphite lube to all slides
- rotate tires (pretty easy since i opted to put the aspecs on, then changed my mind since the tires aren't much better than my works)
- added front 10mm spacer by accident. I have 2 sets of 10MM V1's that I use to rotate my since I put the aspecs on last night, I forgot to remove the spacer when I put the works on so I was rocking a +25 up front on my drive around the neighborhood...RUBBING GALORE...so I could make it work by adding some negative camber
BUT AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT!
-last thing was I swapped back to my backup set of clear lights...they have a crack in one of the reflectors, but you really can't tell...and the lenses on them are pristine...my lights are in need of some TLC so I decided that since the blue in the headlight ring doesn't match that well, it was a good time to swap. When I have some free time, I'll be opening my set, cleaning out the unGodly amount of butyl tape I put in last time that oozed out everywhere...redo the CF wrap that has come partially undone, repaint the rings either black or the teal to match the calipers, and then add a permanent coat of UV paint that I wait and wetsand and buff...the yellowish film keeps forming every few months on these.
Anyway, enough with the words
Here's the teal last night on the RDX cover
I put my new beastly jack to use, jacks the front up to 20"...plenty to be able to put the jackstands under
I was going to swap over to my backup set of engine covers, but I dig the orange under the hood for now
Here are my 2 headlights next to each other to compare, cleared vs blacked out with blue ring and type s diffuser
As mentioned, here is what was left of the beveled edge that keeps the slotted/drilled rotors from having that whirring sound...it was going to come back soon so I ground down an edge
and here starts the work on painting calipers...rears got 2 coats of teal and 3 of clear, since they'd be hidden partially by the rdx covers. I'm old enough to know that I shouldn't cut the corner of painting under them just in case...so I painted the oem small caliper first too. Here are the brembo's going on a 5th coat of clear after decal install. Not bad, only wasted one when I didn't place it correctly.
Standby for some proper shots from a little photo shoot after I cleaned her.

I can't wait to show you...
What's your surprise, it better not not be something really really homo. (disclaimer: use of the double "not" was intentional)
Tyler, yes sir, after much deliberation I did opt to use the covers, they are simple, clean and oem. I did sand off the Acura though and replaced it with one of those generic "type s" stickers from advance auto.
Anthacite...do I see a caliper repaint in your future?!! If you like that picture, you're going to hate me when I post the new ones. I am tired right now, but felt like checking in. I promise will post them tomorrow.

Ok boys...probably wondering why I haven't posted yet.
Got up at 8am today after going to bed at 230pm and I washed and waxed Betty's SRX. Polished exhaust tips too. She has the Dupont treatment done to it, but I read up on it and it felt like it could use a coat of polymer protection.
After that, I opted to install the ebay delrin shifter bushings I bought. I didn't research enough prior to buying and only paid $22 shipped...install was not hard, but I made it harder by opting to do a bunch of other things while I was in there removing everything. I rewired some things and rerouted some wiring...just cleaned up the rat's nest, in general. Also, since I removed the throttle body, I cleaned it out too...
Now, the bushings I bought, true to ebay form, didn't fit properly. The small one did, but the bit one, the center hole was too small (yeah buddy!)...not a big deal, I drilled out the center little by little with a smaller bit until I was barely able to squeeze it into place. I did write to seller to complain though. If I had to do it over, I'd pay Marcus the $65 for his hybrid racing ones.
Impression after install...although it's not night and day, I don't regret it at all...I do feel something different...just seems easier to pop into whatever gear you're selecting, like your hand doesn't have to fish around the gate looking for the opening. I'd recommend this mod to anyone.
For install, what worked for me was to soak both oem bushings in PB Blaster for 15 minutes...I DID unbolt the 2 10MM bolts holding the wiring harness above the smaller one to move it around for access. After soaking, I was able to lift the bushing off the center stud and then I moved it up or down a little (toward or away from car) to put the stud UNDER the rubber part of the bushing instead of the center hole and I used the stud to press the bushing out upward. Worked easy on the big one, and after getting one hand on either side of the wiring and on the smaller one, it popped off first try too. Easy as heck.
Had I not cleaned up the wiring and brushed off and painted my corroding battery tray and dropped 1 bolt and had to install and uninstall and put the "c clip" under the new bushings...this would have taken me all of 30 minutes.
UGLY!
Here they are
OEM off
this stuff made it easy...after 9 years, those bushings didn't want to budge
Installed, but I flipped them over after this to mimmick how another member installed
Dang it was bad!
and here it is after install and cleaned and high temp painted the tray
and here it is all buttoned up!
