J...I bought a new armrest cover from...is it Red Line leather and they included the padding. $90 maybe...can't remember but it was 1" think padding and really good leather. One of the best mods that I did on the TL. Since mine was WDP I did the tone white sides with black top and also did the e brake sleeve and shift knob...it was cool. You could do the armrest to match the 2 tone Esss seats. I just looked, it is Redline...I'm sure ou know about them. I was really happy with the look and fit and really nice leather.

Thanks Gary, I saw that in the other thread, but I really want to keep the matching OEM leather. I've done the black car twice now...used some packing pink foam last time that I stacked up to one inch and it worked great. Guess I'll go that route again.
Thank you for the suggestion.

LMAO...I want MATCHING leather. If I were redoing my seats and door inserts then I'd go that route for sure.
I'm also one of those people that has never had a problem with the Honda leather. Everyone complains but I remember what beat up cloth and pleather feels like.
and TBH...most of those stitched or two tone or racing stripe themes looks cheesy AF to me...like a kit you threw on from autozone!
No offense...just my preference.

Redline uses either 6/8" or 11/8" foam padding

how hard is it to take off the leather? I have the same problem, good leather but no padding. Also have 175k miles and my seats are still good, no rips just some slight cracking on the side bolster from getting in and out

It's easy to take off. The adhesive under it is the pain.
3/4-1" closed cell foam
1/4" TPE/MLV ie a yoga mat
The yoga mat piece does make a difference. Trust me.

I'd guess yoga goes under the foam.
Funny, I stopped at Walmart to see what they had and their foam was not dense at all...so I walked over to the fitness area (Kevin ) and saw a yoga mat and then it dawned on me that I have drawer liners of that material. I wonder about just stacking that instead of foam at all, but then the shape would probably not be right.
I guess the mat under so your pointy elbow never hits hard plastic. Great ideas, thanks fellas.
and Ivo, yours doesn't look cheap, it looks exceptional so I guess I have to eat my words on that.

Yoga mat under the foam.
Usually while driving my forearm rests comfortably on the arm rest. But often, especially when stopped, I'll lean and use my elbow. I found after I initially did this mod that although the new foam was awesome for the former it still sucked for the latter. So I redid it and put a piece of yoga mat underneath the foam. It helped considerably.
Edit: I've bought a lot of CCF in the past few years for different things. Hobby/craft stores are the place to go. But Amazon usually is the best deal. The downside is you can't 'feel' the density.

If I were to ever do it again, yes, I would probably do half and half. Or find exceptionally dense CCF.

I went through the same thought process I didn't want too much of a miss match cuz then it would look out of place. My colors match the car well IMO and doing the arm rest, shift boot and e-brake together makes it look like it came that way originally vs just one piece that doesn't match up with anything else. The napa leather modernizes the interior a little even with the original seats.

Damn you guys...
I never had a problem with my arm rest before, but on the drive home this evening I couldn't help but notice how little padding there really is.
Now I think it needs to be bulked up.

Steve the arm rest cover starts at $50 and goes up from there depending on what options you pick.

^^ no they just mail you the cover. You need to install yourself or have an upholstery shop do it. I think you can ask for samples. Check with them.
