Welp, if you're not rolling, get the Varrstoens
I'll find you the thread in a moment, dude is running 19x9.5 +35 with no roll, no rub on Tein SAs.

but couldn't I go with 18x8.75 +33 XXR530's with the 235/40 tire and lower it with TEIN SA and not have to roll fenders? I know you prob told me b4 N1 lol!
i do like the rota g force 18x9 +30 as well, no way in hell will I be able to afford advans lol. Anything that does not require me to roll fenders I'm always open to that

Keep in mind that with the +33 setup you can always add spacers if you so desire.
And yes, with the G-Force in 18x9 +30 you wont need a roll, as long as you run 225s. Again I think in your case regardless of the setup, since you're concerned about rub and further damage to your fenders, 225 is the safe bet. You could do 235s on the +33 XXR 530s, but I have heard of SOME (key word here) people rubbing with it.
Feel free to ask any other questions man, happy to help with any fitment questions

If beefy tires are your main concern, you're dropping less than 2.5", and you don't want to roll, forget anything bigger than 255 and just run the 255/35 on an 18 x 9.5 +38. End of story, nothing else needs to be said.

255 is plenty beef, but why 255/35 and not 255/40?
Im just new to learning all this offset stuff at first I thought i wanted an aggressive offset (+20) but I just don't think I can pull it off around my city I can't lower the car that much

With the taller 40 you will drop the car less than with a 35, giving you less natural negative camber, and putting the tire closer to the pinch weld. With the 35 you'll need to drop it a bit more, and that increased drop will give you increased negative camber, which will put you further away from the pinch weld. Running a +38 instead of a +40, you're going to want those few extra mm when you're not rolling the quarter.

Everyone says that. I was super concerned about it too - Toronto has notoriously bad roads. Guess what - I'm dumped, have 0 issues, have never scraped any exhaust components or subframe and intent to go even lower. Trust me, and numerous other people on here - You WILL want to go lower. Its kind of an addiction. The key is finding the sweet spot between driveable and low-as-fuck

I think 2'' drop with 18x9.5 +38 with 255/35 will be what I'm looking for..

I can guarentee that Saint John New Brunswick has some of the WORST roads in Canada, (considering Saint John is the OLDEST city in Canada) our city has been on the national news and everything its really bad. But theres a lot of guys around here that are slammed and don't have issues, I just don't know if super low is my kind of thing. I like to have some clearance. I like visual echos/justnspace setup a lot actually. Id go a cunt hair lower than echo though but still love the look

yea but from what I gathered he said Id have to go a BIT lower than him cuz the wheels I want are +38 where his are +40. He runs a 255/40 and he recommended I run a 255/35 series. I really don't know though.. How many inches are you dropped would you say echo??
Again I'm new to this offset/drop measurement stuff and I'm still learning but I trust that when echo did his setup he was on the ball with calculations and measurements

haha you remind me of me when i was researching wheels, drops, etc. engineers are all alike, we research the hell out of something haha.
asking for how much of a drop won't help you too much because everyone has different heights they want, the tires and wheels play a role, and even the car's response to the drop will be different (for example my car may have more camber at a 2" drop then your car at a 2" drop, etc). no car is exactly the same, what worked for one person may not work for you and vice versa.
to end my essay, write down what you want and talk to the person that has that exact setup or very close. then make the purchase, and then play with the drop until you get it just right where you want it. from there you can decide if you want camber kits, a spacer, a better profile tire (i went with 235s, it didn't go well, sold them locally, then bought 225s...i didn't want to do that. but it was a learning process and now i'm at where i want to be). or maybe it doesn't work out at all and you go to another wheel (hopefully not).
long story short. it's a learning process and every car is different.

There are so many variables, it's almost impossible to know exactly what will happen with this or that. But generally, if you get a tire that is shorter, you'll want to drop it more to remove some of the wheel gap, and in doing so will have more natural negative camber, allowing you to use either a.) a wider tire, or b.) a more aggressive offset.
I don't know my exact drop, but I don't think it's 2", maybe an inch. Remember, my car appears to be lower than it is because of the 26" tire instead of the 25.3" tire.
My 265's will be here Friday, and they're going to make you cry .

ch1zo had perfect fitment with 15mm spacers front and back on his type-s wheels.
255/40/17.
Fenders most likely rolled.
All his pics were deleted from Flickr, but I found these from someone who edited his wheels to be pink

17's get 45 series, 18's get 40 and 19's get 35.
If you are okay rolling on 35 series, you might as well go 19" IMO.
18's with a 40 series (be it 225-255) is where it's at and ideal, visually for this body style.
35 on an 18 and prepare to have to slam it to eat the gap, even with the additional width, you'll see the diameter looking smaller in the arch.
oh and don't be afraid of rolling...
you hear horror stories.
but there is a huge range from no roll to horror story. Especially on the TL...TL ender is very robust and very forgiving assuming no previous body work/filler. Have someone that knows what they are doing roll all 4 corners and shave the front tab and then set up your stance the way you see fit.
If you are not comfortable rolling, I suggest you do not venture into spacers, or more aggressive offsets at all.
Everyone's opinion will differ...
