OK OK Acuraziner's!!! What if I told you ~

JUST KIDDING!

After discussing it with the wifey, tossing and turn, sleeping on it, waking up and reading the facts over and over, weighing out what the numbers mean to me and MY ears (which is not much)... I decided to move forward with the IB.

Jerry has his FACTS down packed with some well knowledgeable audio Guru's who I am sure have done their studies for years with the info posted above and who also maybe one type or another: PRO builder, Audio Designer/Engineer, Authorized Dealer, Competition contestants, Comp Judges, Audio Mag writer or just a AUDIO HEAD with multiple years of exp... But like I said, what does it all mean to me? NOT A DAYM THING! Would most of us tell the difference between low/Hi Q's, R, S, T, UV sun light and W, X, Y & Z's?

HELL TO THE NO!...LOL! ~

So I say my friends, going back to my very first post in the audio thread... "All I want is a nice sounding system that hits and the quality is good no matter what I play, to my rookie no experienced ears. Which means I listen to a wide range of music all depending how I feel I just want it to sound nice with some power and keeping the most trunk room as possible!!! I was recommended to do a IB and I am sticking with it till it fails me! Plus I like the fact that not EVERYONE has this set up, and we all know in my build I will try anything new and toss it if I don't like it (carbon fiber hood...)

I personally like what IHC has to say about IB and all his experience with em. I personally don't have the funds to change set ups like I change socks but for my very first system, I would say this shouldn't be a bad start. Now on with the build and SHUT UP JAYVEE!

Ok Ok Ok
So here is how I started my day, this is the NEW revamped design trying to have the top portion of the IB rest on the metal top deck edge. But coming to find out, to do so I would have to cut a huge amount of panel body off to achieve this design (Like Jerry's/NIEBUR3 build...) I worked for Jerry since he designed his back panel to be covered with a false wall leaving the actual panel cosmetically not fit (showing wood or dynamat/deadening and other materials...) to show when his trunk is open hence needing a beauty wall/false wall. I on another hand want something different. Leave it to me. Not to mention, reminder!!! I have NO CLUE WTF I am doing and this entire build has been based off Jerry's build and text messaging. LOL Really! It has...

Here is the new design with the high center: To accomplish Jerry's design and be supported, or lay on the top deck the sides starting from the top first slope going down all the way to the bottom side stopping approx 6-8in from the floor leaving the remaining straight edge. That is alot of wood to be shaved or cut off. To give you all more of a metal picture, the baffle would have a overall appearance on top of a large FROWN Which leaving a lot of gap to be deadened/sealed front to back and back to front. I tried to elave a lot og body coving every gap with the panel doing most of the seal. That was my initial goal during the build as I went along fitting and fitting 20x +.

...to acheive the this goal and have tha panel to most of the sealing or covering, I would have to design the panel to COVER the entire big hole as much that was possible fitting to the car itself. And that goes back to my last design you guys last saw test fit. (PIC)

and here is where I left off (tool box) clamping the 2 supporting (#2 & #3) panels together with GORILLA WOOD GLUE.

Today's work in progress...

Lining it all up:

Mocked together and PRE-DRILL all my hardware:

HARDWARE I used. ( 1 3/4 wood screws *dark* 1.5in wood screws *silver* 6 Lag Screws w/washer 1.5in 5/16 I believe & GORILLA GLUE *Wood*)

What have we here? TEST FIT

Panel(s) build & structure: *NOTE: painted speaker ring to help camouflage with black carpet coming*

NOTE: The PRE-DRILLED holes may look BIG but in fact I also pre-drilled the screw heads with a V-shape bucket to fit each wood screws head leaving the remaining of the hole going through the same size with a thin drill bit. The silver screws are also "NO PRE-DRILLING" needed but I did anyways.

Looking good, man...based on the pace you were keeping earlier in the week, I would have expected you to be done by now!

Nicely done, so far!

No Saturday was a complete waste of time. Plus remember, I can't work diligently on it everyday. You will also be surprised just how time consuming the build is or can be in some areas. But I am pleased so far. Maybe some more work into it later today

TODAY'S UPDATE:

Wrapped in black carpet...Not perfect but definitely looks nice. There is no need for perfection since lots of the surfaces like corners, will not even be seen. Plus, wrapping in carpet was another 1st time for me...Not bad, eh? 1st I started on the rear supporting doubled panels, since it looked so much easier...lol

Then I just repeated what I had just learned to the front panel... No pics, sorry. At this point I didn't reasch in my pocket to take pics since I was covered in glue and sticky carpet hair. But I was getting the hang of it...sorta.

Now, add a sub:

Then, I was so siked how the finished product looked, I had the itch to test fit and get a better feel what I will be looking at soon I just couldn't resist myself...lol

While this panel is still out of the car...PM me if you're interested in this.

Jay,

so you're selling another panel already done up and carpeted, etc? will it house a JL 12W6?

if so...count me in.

No, I have the template...Not wood (although I have one on wood with the higher backing ^ pic leaning against my car)...But I have large sheets of paper traced up of the actual designs. BOTH PANELS Front fascia panel and rear supporting panel the speaker actually mounts to. U would purchase your 3 sheets of 3/4 2x4 MDF and trace these templates provided. Cut them out and fab where needed only. Half the work already done... Get it now? And also, it will fit any speaker of your choice since I left that black on the templates leaving options for the buyer to run 10s, 12s or 15...etc

PM me or text me any other ?s...Thanks

I know many of you guys are anticipating the finish of this projek...as I am. But things have been crazy at home. I haven't had any time to scratch my ass since the wife left Wed. I am currently alone with the 3 kids, (reminder, 1 of em being a newborn ) running around yesterday shopping for some kind of shipping device for the templates and dropping the wifey's car off at Gabe's to replace her a/c compressor and a buddy of ours to completely detail in and out (especially IN!) since she left the windows open sometime last week and out of the blue, it poured! So now, I am getting the int. disinfected/deodorized from any mold and bacteria (can't have that with the baby in the only car that has a back seat at the moment...lol) and completely detailed in and out as a, somewhat surprise for her when she returns Sat. night from Dallas, Tx ~ Annual Mary Kay Inc Convention. That is what she does. She is a Sales Director for MK Inc.

TGIF is here and hopefully I can get some work done today and tomorrow.

Its been rather quiet for me on here and moving forward with this IB projek. Today I had some free time after changing my oil and p/u my wife's car from Gabe's after a amazing detail int/ext, a/c compressor and a/c svc and oil chg before needing to get ready for my twin nieces bday get together. So, I squeezed in approx one hr give or take on starting to lay DYNAMAT. It doesn't look like much work done but started never the less. This stuff is NO JOKE! And...NO ONE WARNED ME regarding the application of this product...THANKS Not only time consuming, tedious work, in 95-98deg temps...This shit cuts the hell outta you! I didn't eve know I was cut til I saw all kinds of blood smears on the foil material... before I wrapped it up to come inside, I must have been cut 5-7x's.

...But here it is so far. Still so much more to come. Hope I have enuff to finish.

Ok, after laying down a few more peices of desdening here and there, I installed the panel to get a final fit and calculation of the future projected work to come. After analyzing the details, I realized...as someone mentioned, the dynamat was not going to seal on carpet...LOL!

I will be either removing or cutting the front portion of the rubber OEM panels that hug the suspension towers. The front portion of those covers will be cut so I can seal onto a metal surface for a for sure seal. Second, I already fitting the panel, cut the carpet to the V shape of the braces and removed the outside remaining of the carpet. This will allow the other side to adhere to when sealing off the panel int pressure from the trunk. This will take care of the entire sides from top to bottom.

Of course, this will be all done after the wires are ran. Passing the wires on both sides rt/lft under the panel then sealing it all up.

Pics as example of wk to come ~

Yeah, I have heard how bad things are in other states across the nation, even as north as New Jersey having all time heat temps and droughts. Crazy, I wish all will get some of this rain. Its a shame how sometimes you dislike something so much until its gone or taken from you... Damn ungrateful humans! ...lol! And literally, you can see how many days I have posted its rained and I was not permitted to work on the project due to inclement weather. I wish I can throw u a black cloud buddy

OK...seriously speaking now. I AM PISSED! Its now going on approx 3wks the car has been apart. Yesterday, I came home motivated to remove the door panels and lay down the inner door skins and Cascade door kits for deadening. So after the rain stopped, I went outside and observed the panels as I seen on on a DIY here on AZ. Then I went to go get the box that Jerry sent the products in...and low and behold! No where to be found! I even went to my storage unit at PUBLIC STORAGE where at one time stored all the audio equip trying to make room for the baby to come at the time. Nothing was found at the storage! I searched and searched through the entire house and my shed where I have all my interior pcs now while down. Again, nothing found! So, at this point I am just pissed!

Finally, hrs later when my blood stopped bowling, I started to think of the entire tear down and process I was removing everything any laying em on the floor. Even logging in AZ to look at my pics. Then it hit me when I was retiring for the night and laying down with the wife...I jumped! and said I remember what happen now! When I was tearing everything down and had all parts and boxes laid out on my drive way like the pics show, it started to rain. My son was out there with me watching me and we bother started taking some things in the house, like the audio boxes and the int to the shed. I remember there was also a mess of cardboard and misc liter from the car itself. All the audio was together except the PKG from Jerry with the deadening products. For some reason I laid it down randomly that ended up away from the rest of the products. When everything was in and safe I asked my son to p/u the remaining of the mess and throw it away...

...yeah, by now u see what happen

Last thing I remember was seeing the box laying randomly away from everything else. The only thing I can say is my son threw it away. I am so pissed since all trash was empty ripped boxes and torn sheets of cardboard from my stencil IB. This was a box with weight and all 4 corners interlocking closed with one another...He did not even bother checking inside. If he did, he would have noticed the BRAND NEW Products inside...

This almost makes it and breaks it! I am just about done with this crap! This project has been one big waste of time and adding up to be a waste of money... All this, and I was set to start harnessing all the wires this Friday.

Update to come, whenever...

Looks like you've been having a rough time with this. I went and saw Gabe yesterday and he took care of my car. Next up I have to get with you to see this sick ride!

Yes it's been some serious tough times during this project but to considering everything I don't know what I'm doing and I think I'm doing a fair job so bumps like this are expected all I can do is try to take it in stride and keep it moving. Glad to hear gabe took care of you he's really a good guy good friend have known for several years. I also would not be for anyone unless I believe in them or relied on them myself. After all if it did not work out my name would be on the referral. Just text me when you think you're going to be in the neighborhood again I only live 2 to 3 minutes away from gabes shop.

On the bright side it's time to move forward I guess so I text Jerry/NIEBUR3 for the same products that were thrown away and once again he came through. Provided me a very competitive price ...Ok Ok Ok, CRUSHING the comp! with immediate shipping to make up for any time wasted.

Thanks again buddy!

With this weeks issue with the deadening material, I hope to get a lot of progress done by this weekend, possibly even completion

TEMPLATES STILL AVAILABLE
