Well, against all odds, I managed to get some work done today. I have completed the gutting of the rear int and traced out my template on cardboard for the IB panel. I also managed to add a lil more OEM CF trim to the int lil by lil ~ Doin werk son!. But happy with the work I managed so far. Next, I will start cutting and fitting cutting and fitting cutting and fitting...lol, deadening and wiring.

Side Note: Its funny how much leather seats and carpet makes in weight. My rear is jacked up high enough to see the top of the rear tires instead of being tucked as they were. And the ride just feels so much different. And WOW! what loud road noise! Every rock, sand, puddle, bump...etc. BUT, on a pos. note, The exhaust sounds freaking awesome!

Now the pics of progress.

I absolutely love the carbon fiber trim pieces!

I highly suggest the Type-S shift knob for the cherry on top!

I love those CF trim pieces.

I used to have the wood grain interior but just switched everything to the oem carbon trim, so now I have a great reason to waste money

Nope! That is OEM HONDA/ACURA accessories. Bought it ebay from a seller who is a acura dealership. I am not sure if its available with the TLS trim or something that was available extra to order. But yep, is OE equipment brother. That is why it matches flawlessly with the shifter panel.

When I get home later I will take better camera pics (no phone pics...lol) of the entire console including the shift knob so you guys can see it in full.

THE PROGRESS CONTINUES... ( Music: Da~Da~Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah)

More to come from todays progress. (Taking a break...)

Also, I am trying to cut and trim lil by lil, "Measure 2x cut once" with the ending results to a "PERFECT BAFFLE" template. Let me do all the work for you. When it is complete and has the ideal fit, whomever is interested in doing a IB I will have the TEMPLATE for you in hand. Hmmmmmm

PART II: (Where I am at this very moment...)

Notice the arched notch on the bottom for the best possible fit?

Still needs some trimming from the top and some massaging here and there.

LMAO... funny thing is, True Story! It does sound good right about now...lol

Well, here it is boys and girls...

PART III:

Going back out to trim the top edges for the panel to fall into the actual opening/pocket. And this will be a WRAP! Boys and girls! Literally, next will be to start wrapping it in carpet... Or I have a lil sumin sumin up my sleeve. I just don't know were to start to get my hands on this material. So as of right now, its just a thought. Black carpet will be DEFUALT.

Until then, lots of work still ahead of me. Deadening to come next.

PART IV:

For someone who has NEVER EVER EVER touched custom interior work to this degree building a audio system to the car, I feel I have made awesome progress with my lack of experience and knowledge. And it feels amazing to stand back and look at it at this moment. I really seeing this coming to life in my head now.

The hacking with the jig saw is done. Now for the final details will all be done by hand sanding to smooth everything out making room for the wrapped material and fitment to the car.

I am done for today. Time to shower, eat and play with my baby boy son. Before I go, I leave you with the final results for today.

What!? Who doesn't like Stephen King's "IT"?

Anyways, just like the entire project, I am clueless on where and how to go about carpeting or wrapping the panel and with what material besides black carpet. I have a material in mind, but just don't know where I can get my hands on a sheet or so. I was thinking of CARBON FIBER Leather. Any help, tips or leads? I have Google'd it to see if I can find it for purchase or "How to" vids using the stuff...and NOTHING found

I would love to get my hands on that leather/vinyl carbon fiber material. I seen it on ebay for other purposes but can't find where to possibly buy a sheet. (Its not Di-Noc) It does look like CF but with leather or fake leather vinyl look. If nothing else, I will just default to black poly mat or common carpet material. < Which, I never done that before either... Fun Time Fun Times.

Either today or this weekend, I will work on massaging the flaws of the panel and cutting my recessed staggered panel for the 12 to move freely. It may not need it, but rather be safe then sorry and experience issue later when all is installed.

Today's work...few troubled ares to be hand sanded and tweeked.

NEXT: Drill out the mounting holes for the hardware that will bolt the panel and braces together.

I didn't just want a wall or a slab of wood to hold on to a sub. I wanted it to belong to the car. So I massaged it in till everything fell into place. Was it needed? No, probably not. But people can appreciate good detailed work. Thanks Swoosh!

Here is my sheet of "FAIL" from my first attempt at the IB panel. Good thing is, it can still be used. I will sandwich them together with some wood screws and Gorilla Glue to double up on the center of the panel here the sub will be mounted so I will not only support the panel but add a recess setting for the sub allowing more space for the speaker suspension to flow freely with no possible issues.

Woke up early (8am) to go to Home Depot to gather a few things to get started on my IB projek... BUT! The wifey had different plans for me today and "IB" or anything "CAR" related was not a part of it. So on the way to walmart to get some water and coke for our NEW plans to Clearwater Beach for the day, I managed to persuade her to stop at Home Depot just so I can buy my hardware. I managed to buy my fastening bolt, nuts and washer for the panel/brace (3-4 per side, haven't decided yet) and forgot the wood screws and Gorilla Glue since I was being rushed and a small detection of a attitude from SOMEONE was starting to show...lol

Changed my hardware all together. I did stay with the straight washers but took the NEIBUR/Jerry approached on the fastening using 6 instead of 1/4x2in LAG SCREWS to bolt down the baffle to the braces. I also decided to step it up reinforcing the panel itself from a single panel to a 3 layers panel. 1st acting as the actual fascia and the 2nd acting as the actual mounting panel for the 12in sub and the 3rd just for back bone support. Sandwiching all 3 panels together will be wood screws driven in from both fascia side and back/trunk side with Gorilla Glue layering each panel to the next. Hope this all works. The ONLY thing I may change is the small 3rd supporting layer to a slightly bigger sheet. The one I used is juuuuuust big enough for the sub and was the only size left over from the scraps to use w/o going out to buy another sheet.

I have completely "Winged" this project and making changes now before going to far into the project. Is it slowing me down? Sure is...But rather be safe then sorry later.

2nd layer

2nd layer trimmed

2nd layer mocked

scrap to be cut as 3rd supporting layer

All 3 pcs mocked
