story, after re-reading your post slowly, I believe we were talking about the same thing...we mentioned that wheel width does not have affect (to a point) on the fitment...
now if I had 235mm on my rims with the same spacer, I would stick out another 5mm....if I had the same 235 tires and replaced my 17x8 +20 wheels with 17x9 +20, it would fit the same way...the tire will be stretched a little bit but the fitment for most part will remain the same....
with Dan's setup, he mentioned he is rubbing, he has 2 options, lower the offset OR go narrow on tires....
if you are getting similar rims and are unsure, I say, get +35 offset (hoping they have the same face/concave), get your car to the height you want, then add spacers depending on how flush you want to be...
this is a safer approach to getting +20 with 235 tires and rubbing away just to get a different set of tires OR spending more $$$ on roll and pull/etc....unless someone has tried and tested, then you can follow suit....

Same size tire would result in a stretch on the 9.
which would mean there would be an angle on the tire like / < - this instead of | <- this on the 8
and if there is an angle it would mean the car would have to be lowered more for the fender to rub, than it would without the stretch correct?
So what I'm saying is that although 235 is 10mm wider than 225, the rim is 19.05mm wider as well. which means the tire needs to be stretched an extra 9mm I think.
Which would increase the angle of the tire with the slightest stretch.
which meansssssssssss that since your tires sit basically straight up, my tires would be slightly angled

Yes but what stretches is the sidewall for the most part...you don't stretch the contact patch...The contact patch is 225 or 235mm...
But to your point, you are correct. The stretch will allow you to lower the car a tad bit more...how significantly can you lower it? Am not sure...

Depends on how low you go. My rears are rolled and with my current height my 225/40 have a hair or clearance. I'll see if I can snap a pic real quick. Mind you I got the new alignment with less than -1 camber on the rear now
Few shots: Don't mind the road salt. Bathing her tomorrow since all the craps melted off the roads now.

I ordered the 535's in your specs tonight, so I was using your wheels/tires as something to go off of. I am on s techs right now maybe getting coilovers or konis very soon. I dont want to run crazy stretch on them but I am probably not going as low as you are currently. I am planning on rolling all corners and adding skunk 2 camber kit in the front and ingalls in the rear.
Thanks for whoring out your car so I had something to go off of
And btw, looks great Dan but give that damn thing a bath

You have a "square" setup correct (same specs all around)? Why does the fronts look more stretched than the rears? Might be just the angle of the pic.

2 questions:
If I had the opportunity to have the 18x9.75 +20 will the 225/40 but a huge stretch on them.
Second, recommendations on adjustable ball joints

Ingall allows for a max of -1.5deg and SPC allows for -3 degs....am sure you wont need that much but well, its good to have the option...
also, the Ingalls, I think its 160 for both and SPC is 240 for both....

Thanks Yorks. Doubt we'll hit the 10-12 like they originally said because the stupid sleet is killing the snow totals. If it doesn't get worst then tomorrow I can at least take the wife's car to pick up my new gun.

They are the same. One had bad curb rash so I was going to replace that one but found a local guy that offered to get mine at a decent price so instead of buying one rim for $150, I got 4 new single drilled for less than 200
