Got to start the year off right

Finally got the calipers swapped with a set of used ones that are in better shape and not stripped.New brake pads were also installed.
To prevent the screws from seizing again i was advised by two good friends of mine(both 25+years experience in the field) to use PERMATEX anti seize lubricant.

While i was at it,i went ahead and replaced the PCV VALVE.
Tools needed:
-flat head screw driver(to remove engine cover)
-10 mm socket or wrench(to remove pcv valve holding screw)
-rag (to place on top off the alternator, small amouth of oil will spill)
*there will be a little spacer that will come of with the old one that will be re-used
It's that simple.

The old one.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

So this morning at a whopping 19 degrees and an empty gas tank,i get a little surprise.
Got a check engine light, code p0154.Clear the code and it wasnt come back on,if it does i most likely will have to replace an o2 sensor.(bank 2 sensor 1)
I guess even cars dont like this cruisy cold weather.

How to Clean your throttle body

So it is official,my o2 sensor (bank 2 sensor 1)is not good, the check engine light came back on same code.
Part #36531-RDM-A01 $144.13 shipped. Not bad for the firts real issue since ownership 1 year and 3 months ago.

Another do it yourself tip

tools needed:
- 10 mm socket /ratchet/extension (to remove air box)
- clean rag and throttle body cleaner
- Pry bar (or something equivalent)

Remove your air box out the way

With key on/engine off, place a pry bar between the seat and the gas pedal.position it to full throttle, pedal fully pressed.

You will find the throttle to be fully open.
now spray your throttle cleaner on the rag only and clean it up.
CAUTION:
Never spray this throttle body cleaner directly on the throttle body it will be damaged.

Afther several wipes,all done.

I have the same error code pop up. It's come on 3 times in about ~2 months. Guess I should go ahead and change it out.

swoosh 160k i'm jely,i'll get there soon.

Otacon you definitely got to change that sensor, otherwise overtime you will damage those cats.Believe me you dont want to do that if out of warranty that can be very expensive.

sourial84 if you guys going tomorrow i most likely be there.

swoosh my personal maintenance pointers:
-oil change (every 3,000 miles or 3 months which ever comes first/always change the oil filter and check the tires at this time(check tire thread deph and tire pressure))
-engine air filter(every 15,000 miles or sooner depending on condition)
-trans fluid(every 30,000 miles or sooner depending on driving habits/it can be checked with the dipstick(if the colour isnt any closer to red or when you smell it ,smells burned))
-spark plugs(honda of america claims 90,000 miles/i change mine every 60,000 miles, also the right gap is always extremely important)
-brakes(this depends a lot on the driving habits and conditions/visually inspect them when you doing a oil change/i usually change mine when they are down to 3 mm(new pads are about 8mm))
-cabin air filter(once a year, regardless of mileage/i have seen CAF with 4,000 miles completly clogged up)
-timing belt(should be done according to honda at 90,000 miles/i have replaced it on cars with as much as 145,000 miles still in ok condition, that being said/100,000 miles seems like a fair number to me/this job includes the replacement of the following parts:timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, coolant, serpentine belts and inspection of:timing belt idler pulley, side motor mount, serpentine belt tensioner and all other pulleys(at this time a valve adjustment should be done(when you adjust valves you got to remove the valve covers, which means you should replace the valve cover gaskets at this time)
-wipers(once a year,i personally just change my inserts/i dont like the afthermarket wipers)
-coolant/antifreeze(once every 45,000 miles)
-fuel filter(that one can get complicated,it's located by the fuel pump honda doesnt specify a time frame to change it,usually you change this one when the pump goes bad/thankfully for us this never goes bad on this cars(so far)if you guys decide to change it it will be about $100.will have to remove the back seat bottom piece to get to it)

Everything else is just a matter of inspection or replacing it when it goes bad like: 02 sensors , suspension components ,wheels , motor mounts ,lights.....

I hope this information is helpfull somehow.

^^^ ahahaha we almost on the same schedule....

except i used Redline fully synthetic and have the oil + filter change done at 7500miles
Redline in the tranny fluid and thinking of a 60K interval

earlier i was on a 5K interval for engine oil + filter with Mobil1/Penn plat and a drain and refill of Z1 ATF every engine oil change.....

other than that....everything is on track....
here is a more detailed post

jnlopez7 thanks a lot.
sourial84 as far as changing that o-ring in the power steering pump:
-1st unclamp that hose in that outlet tube
-2nd with a small 10 mm wrench loosent the bolt on the bottom of that outlet tube(if you dont have small hands a magnet always helps keeping this sucker from falling on you)
-3rd wiggle the outlet pipe out(some fluid will spill/place a small rag under it before you remove it)
-4th with a small pick or your nails remove the old o-ring from the outlet tube(sometimes the o-ring stays inside the pump so either way get it out of there)
-5th install the new o-ring in the outlet tube(make sure that you lube that o-ring with some of that old p.s. fluid/to press it in wiggle it in also, that will help)
-6th same reversed of removal
-last to avoid any damage to the pump(fill the reservoir/turn key on not engine/turn the steering wheel to full turns a few times/re-check fluid level/start car)
- done

Hope this was helpfull

you take good care of your car...and im jealous of your acura employee discount. also, i noticed how you said you want this car to last to 500k miles....but at the rate you're driving its gonna take literally forever to reach that many miles. i drive over 24k miles a year so i need to keep up with the maintenance fast.

paperboy42190 ,thanks for being the first one to notice that.
Thats because its not my daily driver,i drive a 2010 acura rdx tech package everyday.
That will change in june ,i will start driving it a whole lot more.i usually drive about 12,000 to 15,000 miles a year,so yeah it will take me a while to get there. But i will.

A walk in memory lane

Being that everyone nowadays uses facebook(like myself),i totally forgot i had a myspace account.
So i went into it,look what i found,i though i share:

Wifes old cars

Some of my old cars that i actually took pictures of:

This last one a 1992 acura integra gsr with the original b17 on it,blew the engine twice before i got rid of it.
First i blew the original b17 which was already smoking when i got it,then salvage the head and did a frankstein which i blew 4 months later doing 145 mph.
I've always been a little bit of a rush seeker. i have to confess out of all this cars the one i was able to push the most was my wifes car.I got that 2001 acura cl-s to very close to 150 mph.

Just sharing this whith you guys ,so you can see how important it is for me to keep this car for a very long time.
Out of all this cars the ones that i miss the most i would have to say :1999 bmw m3 / 1992 acura integra gs(red one) / 1992 acura integra rs(blue one) this last one was till this day the car i've own the longest(1 year and 7 months).
I plan on breaking that record big time with my tl-s,only time will tell.W'll see.

sorry to heard that sourial84,very nice ride indeed.
The MR-2 i had was a 1987 (5 speed manual) not the supercharged version.Picked her up for $900 back in late 1999,ended up selling it for the same price to my younger brother before going to the military. When i came back i asked him about the car,he tells me he sold it to some guy from a gas station afther blowing the trans. What a shame. Saw it 6 years later at that same gas station completly restored.

So i got excitted at work then..... this

So i get all excitted at work they give me an 2004 a-spec to work on. But then i notice this in the back of it:

Whats wrong with this people they upgraded from scotch tape to same big ass weird looking screw things.I dont know about you guys but looking at that breaks my heart.

Did notice something cool about this whole ordeal, the steering wheel comes matching the interior colour ,i wonder if thats also an a-spec thing.Never seen or notice that before.
