I don't think he did a lot to lighten the car and the turbo kit adds weight so I've just assumed he's close to stock weight.

Also judging by his kill stories it doesn't sound like it's trapping that quick but he might have been holding back a bit too. As mine started getting close to the 130mph mark the 600cc crotch rockets could literally be played with, letting off the gas and getting back on the gas. I beat an M5 while trying not to let the rpms go above 3,500rpm just to see if I could do it. His car should run away from most bikes and all but the very quickest cars on the planet if it traps that high which maybe it did. It would be nice to get him back in here to discuss some of his kills.

Back to 500whp and 3,500lbs... I tried mine on the calculator since it's never been run with the current combo. for 602hp and 3,000lbs it should trap 135mph. I did the same hp for 3,500lbs and it was 127-128mph. For 500hp and 3,500lbs it was 120mph. I would say for not knowing the exact weight and hp he could have been anywhere from 120mph to 128mph.

I don't know if that calculator was whp or flywheel hp which would make a nice difference but when I input what the car used to make at it's old weight it was within 3mph.

This is exactly why I was so excited to see Bert go to the track because I think it would have put up some big numbers. I'm not saying 130mph is out of the question but it's doubtful.
Either way, anything above 120mph would be a solid figure! Shit, he'll run away from just about anything he encounters on the street, unless of course it's a damn GT-R or something like that.

The greatest thing about the turbo TL is people not knowing about it and running against one. Imagine the look on their face when a TL is pulling bus lengths on them It's a helluva sleeper and I'm sure the guys will be happy with low 120mph trap speeds. Hell they could probably pull out a win against a ZO6 if the driver isn't carefull...now that would be satisfying to watch!!

I finally got all the fittings needed to install the air/oil separator today. The parts were ordered a few weeks ago, but the hose was on back order and I ordered the wrong size 6 AN adapters, so it took longer that anticipated. Summit Racing is a awesome company, they not only paid for the return shipping to them, but also the shipping back to me. Despite my having ordered the wrong part. They also ship next day standard to my area. . At this point I am about $100 into this project for both the separator and hose/fittings

Here are some pics of the setup before install and in the car. I decided to use Pushlok fittings and hose because they were a little cheaper and the pressures are low enough that regular AN fittings are not needed. I would not go this route again as the fittings were a different band than the hose and a pain to put together.

Hi speed, are you built?

I myself am about to make the bump from 9.5psi ----> 12psi within the next day or so and it's nice to see others on here raising the bar on j32/35's.

I've tuned about as far as I can go on 9.5 and am anxious to see what 12 can do.

No, I am still on stock internals for the moment. The EBC is set for 12 psi, but I rarely push it that hard. I am also running a big shot of Meth/water in my upper psi range. (above 5 psi )

I may be pushing the limit on this stock j35a8 before its over. Ive seen a j32a2 crank out over 700hp on boost and that was on a completely stock motor.

I too am running meth injection and that along with a detonation free tune Im confident in taking her further up.

I seen that youre running a SC'er right now...but did you have a turbo at one point in time?

I'm am currently running the turbo, sold the SC a few years ago. I don't know how the j32a2 are taking that kind of boost other than tuning options. The later j's didn't have.

The video looked good, didn't realize you are using the type s gauge cluster and steering wheel.

The rear vent will be attached to a catch can, since it just an intake vent for the PCV system. Right now it is vented into the wheel well. As far as the valve covers, yeah, kick it into gear. I need to get that extra 150 WHP. I was just about to PM Ack about this today.

The rear one also becomes the only pressure outlet once you go under boost and the PCV valve is inoperative, so it's important that it's free flowing.

I was running just a filter on the rear vent, but started to get a lot of blow by from it and smoke crossing the windshield. Embarrassing in a car I put this much effort into. As it sits the rear vent is extended into the wheel well and is dripping oil on the drive shaft, so I need to fix it right away. I was thinking the excess blow by was the PCV valve getting stuck, but after changing it out the blow by is still excessive and very sporadic. Sometimes right after starting the car and others after getting off the freeway, no way to predict when it will happen. I remember a member who was SCed and auto crossing the car complain about getting a lot of oil from that rear valve cover vent, but mine was dry until a few months ago. My idea is to use a vented breather to just catch whatever is leaving the vent.

lots of oil coming from the vent tube off the valve cover sounds like rings to me. same scenario when my motor was stock the first time around. do a compression and leak down test to narrow down the problem

That's what I was thinking. I thought I remembered you having a similar issue. I will be replacing the engine soon and have been driving it less due to traffic, so its not a big problem. I have to watch the oil separator to see how much oil I'm really getting from the front cover. I removed the IM cover and there was a lot of oil in there, so I'm thinking there is quite a bit of oil coming front the front valve cover as well. Thanks, I may have the compression checked when I get a chance.

Other than the blow by the car drives great, just too rich.

So I'm assuming no oil collected in the catch can is a good thing then as far engine integrity goes? Mine hasn't seen a drop since its been boosted and was kind of wondering if this was more like a safety catch rather than something that was regularly trapped/emptied.

Yes, I was planing on doing a build this summer and couldn't pass up your engine, since I know you put so much into it. My only concern is the tranny mount is bent. Any info on what has been done to that engine would be great since Ack didn't know all the specifics of the build. We're you running a return fuel system?

Hi Speed, I think he's posted the build specs of his motor up a few times on the forum.

And I doubt he used a returnless system.

I was days away from pulling the trigger on new tires and I really had intentions of heading to the track. I was aiming for a 120mph+ trap

there is so much stuff that may be for sale. but i think selling the car as is may be easier in the long run. but heres a list of what could be for sale

rv6 strut bar
megan coils
wilwood front and rear bbk/rotors/ss lines
snow meth kit/pump/tank/controller
10" alpine type r sub
rockford amp
blackberry musicgateway

aem boost soloniod

powder coated blue valve covers
powder coated blue IM cover
polished IM

amsoil 8" air filter/piping
tilton twin disk clutch/flywheel/pressure plate
motor (pauter rods, wiseco 9:1 pistons, kms valvetrain, type-s heads)

thats just off the top of my head

I can take the money from insurance and buy another 6spd TL tomorrow and in all honesty, swap everything over in a weeks time. I really just dont know if i want to go through this again.

However, if I choose to build another car and boost it, I will surely start with a better platform then fwd

A couple questions and update.

I added two Moroso air/oil separators to the PCV and rear breather port on the valve cover. I also added check valves to the PCV, brake booster and EVAP purge line.

Everything looked good and I went to get aligned and inspected this morning and found a P0496 being thrown. Tried clearing and it came right back. I removed the check valve, cleared the codes and all seems well.

I assumed that the connection to the IM was for the source of vacuum to draw vapors. Would putting on a check valve here cause problems?

My other question is upgrading the MAP sensor. Does anyone know if an RDX sensor is a direct swap? From what it appears, our stock MAP is only a 1.7bar unit.

I have not had any problems with the check valve on that evap. Maybe you had the check valve backwards or a bad check valve. I will look at my codes, but don't remember ever seeing that pop up.

I have the flow going into the IM and verified it when I removed it. I was wondering if I had it in backward as well. It also is functioning. I bought a bunch so maybe I'll try another one. The code wasn't thrown immediately and had to happen just before I was ready to take it in for inspection.
