The J-Pipe alone is so worth the investment. There is absolutely no trade offs in getting it. For example, with the PCD's you trade power for rasp/exhaust smell, bigger tires you trade looks for ride comfort and so forth. Richie's J-pipe... all you get is power, the car feels lighter, and it is plug and play (depending on the removal of rusted bolts from the old pipe).

This is a "no brainer" mod and with the type-s, you will love it. Just do it and you will not be disappointed, I promise...

I have CAI and the J-pipe as well as other mods. The j-pipe is a must!

I recently purchased a 2008 tl-s A/T. I love the car and I would love to add 20hp with these mods. My knowledge of car engine's is very minimal.
I apologize if these questions have already been answered.....

- What is a Jpipe and Precat delete?

- Will the RV6 V3 Jpipe and V2 Precat deletes mods void my existing warranty?

- I noticed in the earlier pages of the thread that a member had to cut the splash guard to avoid it being melted.... is this still necessary?

- How would I go about installing this in my car? Will I simply be able to take it to a muffler shop and they would know what to do with it?

- Will this mod make my check engine light appear?

Thanks in advance for your help.

They will be on my car as soon as Richie delivers.... I can't wait

Pictures will be posted the second the install is done. I am so excited to see the gains when paired with the j-pipe and in the summer I will install the PCD as well...

There was more power gained in the mid ranges. The average numbers are pretty questionable. I would just ignore them and just look at the graph.

They only void the warranty on the parts you are replacing. Now I would swap back to stock if I broke anything big. Dealers always try to pin the blame on aftermarket parts.

I would estimate around the same peak numbers as stock with a much better mid range.

LOL I always wondered if it was possible to do something like that...looks like a cat, especially when you're 6 feet tall and looking at it in a tiny little mirror shoved under a dark car in a station full of exhaust fumes =)

No there will be gains. The peaks gains will be around the same as the base dyno (13WHP and 7WTQ) but with the exhaust the mid range gains will be much better.

I saw a slight increase in MPG while driving on the highway. The only thing is that you will love the new sound and chances are that you will hit the gas a little harder.... which will probably result in lower MPG.

Best I can say is that if your driving habits don't change then you will see an increase.

I just installed mine last Friday. All I can say is WOW!!! There is no change in exhaust note, but the torque and power this bolt on mod makes is unreal! I wished I would have purchased Richie's Jpipe before my CAI. Well worth the $$$.

you need to distinguish between:
peak of the power band - commonly refered to as the peak, the gain at this point can be whatever number
peak of the gain - yes has to be higher than the average gain

As much as I keep trying to convince myself to be satisfied without it, I can't help but continue to return to this thread. Only a matter of time.

It's like $20. If you look on his site the J pipe itself is $450 and $470 shipped.

any issues in having both a cai and this j-pipe installed? i'm considering getting the j-pipe and i already have a cai, so just curious if there are any drawbacks.

^^^NO issues, I just wished I would have purchased the Jpipe first. I'm even tempted on picking up Richies V2 Precats because I've read it puts down more power/torque than his Jpipe....I highly recommend this as the #1 perfomance mod for our TL's, still being able to pass emissions and still sounding like a stock TL....

Have CAI, CompTech Exhaust, and RV6 v3 jpipe. All three have power gains (nothing crazy but tangible). Deep solid note, no droning. I did them one by one and can attest to the power increase. No dynos were used.

Side note - Jpipe increased the idle noise the most (still pretty quiet), the cat back exhaust from CompTech was just as quiet at idle and a good sound when flooring it.
