QUICK question on Injen CAI install - DIY

I know it's been discussed to death, but is it absolutely necessary to pull your font bumper off before installing an Injen Cold Air Intake? Is there any work around at all? Feel comfortable with everything else besides that part, any advice would be great and then we can close the thread. Thanks in advance!

ive heard you can turn the wheel all the way to the left and gain access thru the fender area that way. never put a CAI on a TL before tho

Pretty sure the bumper has to come off to get the old tubing and intake resonator out.

just take the front bumper off. it's very easy to remove. a couple of screws and bitch clips and you're done. don't be afraid to pull parts off of the car, once you do it a few times it becomes second nature.

I didn't remove my bumper to install the CAI, but as noted, the bumper is VERY easy to remove. Makes things MUCH easier.

^agree with all of the above

Its not hard to remove it but it will make the job much easier especially when removing the resonator intake box

I didnt remove my bumper when installing my CAI. If I had to do it again, I would remove the bumper, just to make the job easier. Thats all.

OP Save yourself from the headaches and remove the bumper! There's even a video on how to take it off.

Agreed! While you have the bumper off, install a xenon hid kit while you're at it

Bumper does not need to come off... But it is a pain the ass gettin the factory system out with it on.. Both my TL's I didnt take the bumper off and then to service the filter just pulled back the covering and inner fenderwell to service.

^Uh if you are removing the stock intake then it will be best to remove the front bumper for easier access. If you already have a CAI and only want to replace or clean the filter than yes just pull back the fender well to gain access.

Just take the bumper off. It takes all of 10 minutes and makes your life a lot easier.
